Hi All,

I am new here. Just looking for some advice on what Prenatal supplements I should be taking and some REAL recommendations/reviews.

Finding it really overwhelming atm looking through and just being bombarded with sales.

Honestly all I took was folic acid & vit D, that’s it. Can get both from boots for about £3 each.

That is all you actually need.

Folic acid 400mg.
Vitamin D.

That's it. If you are overweight/obese look into whether you need higher dose folic acid.

I took proceive you can get them cheaper on eBay. But as others have said the main things are vitamin D, 400 folate and NOT Vitamin A.

As others have said Folic acid, vitamin D and avoid vitamin A (also known as retinol so check your face creams.)

Also suggest taking omega fish oil, but make sure it’s a pregnancy safe one as some, like generic cod liver oil capsules might have vitamin A in.

I initially took proceieve + folate + vitamin D + omega fish oil on the recommendation of the fertility Dr I was seeing. Now im pregnant I have swapped to boots bump & beyond (£12 a month and it includes everything)

The other one to consider is choline. NHS don't specify it but many other countries do from 2nd trimester onwards as it's so important for brain development. I've also found magnesium useful for cramps and restless legs, so I ended up on Inessa, which are spendsy but I tolerate really well.

Mediterranean diet and the basics (vitamin d and folic acid). If you were struggling to conceive there might be more to add to that list, though much of it is contested, but deep into unexplained infertility I was ready to try anything to address the invisible problem. If you’re vegetarian make sure you’re getting enough protein, I turned out to be deficient even though I was consciously including a protein (lentils or whatever) in every meal.
