I am 5+3 and thinking about taking DD to visit a farm tomorrow. I know there have been warnings about sheep carrying infections which could cause miscarriage, but do you reckon I'm OK as long as I don't touch them? Sorry to sound paranoid - the weird and wonderful things you worry about when you're pg!

As long as you wash your hands properly afterwards, theres no real problem in touching them either - just make sure you and DD wash well before any hand/mouth contact.

I 'think' it's just lambing ewes which can cause a problem rather than all sheep. Just make sure you wash your hands well after visiting.

Do not touch them but you will be fine being close to them, we had lambing ones outside our kicthen for 8 weeks a couple of months ago and I was fine.

it is lambing ewes and close contact with lambing ewes.

which won't happen at this time of year since lambing season is long past.

Tis worth taking some alcohol gel for your DD's fingers too - she can cross contaminate you.

Great, thanks everyone!
