Baby barely moving

26 weeks pg, been having strong, regular movements daily for weeks now, but since yesterday morning I have barely felt anything, and they are very faint. I have been ill with mild food poisoning, although better now, and I think I may have a UTI (doc on monday, and I'll get him to listen to the heartbeat at the same time)
Is there a chance that being ill could make the baby soporific or something? Should I be worried? Is there anything I can do to liven it up a bit? Am I just being paranoid?
Thanks!

Personally, I'd phone my midwife, and see if they can see you. They always take this kind of thing seriously and won't think you are being silly.

I'm sure its fine, but I would go in just to put your mind at rest.

my friend had similar thing - went for emergency scan and found baby had got his legs stuck behind his head (oh to be able to do that again) - he managed to free himself the next day!

You need checking out.

Ring MW, she will probo tell you to go up there and you will get rigged up to the monitor belt whatsit for 30 mins, then they will send you home fully reassured.

I had this and they took me in for a 25 minute trace straight away. Baby fine and I felt so much better. Give them a call.

Thanks very much everyone, I'll see if I can be seen somewhere tomorrow, if not, monday. I feel it moving now, regular though faint, so I feel a bit better!

try some ice-cream, dd used to wriggle to get away from the cold in my stomach!

mylovelymonster · 14/06/2008 20:38

Baby's probably shifted position. You have more 'pain' receptors in your skin so will feel movements more strongly if baby kicking out, and very faintly if baby shifted limbs round to beat up your internal organs
At least, I think that's right - sure I heard it somewhere..............

Go get checked anyway so you can relax.

cece · 14/06/2008 20:40

Go and get it checked out.

NotABanana · 14/06/2008 20:56

I would still go and get checked out now.

That is two of you now with none moving babies not taking our advice!

ObsidianBlackbirdMcNight · 14/06/2008 21:00

Thanks, but it's not a non moving baby, it's moving now, have counted at least 10 this evening since I posted this message, I'm not going to go running to A&E when I can feel movements, as I said, I'll see if I can get checked tomorrow.
Thanks for your advice!

10 in half an hour is good.

ObsidianBlackbirdMcNight · 14/06/2008 21:39

Yes, It has really woken up since I posted, and although they don't seem to be as strong as usual, they are regular so I'm assuming it's facing a different way and I can't feel it so strongly. If I'm concerned tomorrow I'll get checked out!
