Will introverted uterus make it difficult to do a gender scan at 16 weeks?!

At my 12 week scan last week I was told I have a very steeply introverted uterus which made it difficult to get clear pictures and the measurement of the back of the neck using the external probe so I ended up having and internal scan. I was wondering if anyone else who has an introverted uterus had any issues when finding out the gender of their baby at 16 weeks?

It was probably inverted rather than shy? I assume once a baby is in there it is pushed into the right shape and that wouldn't matter any more? Congratulations on your pregnancy.

As far as I’m aware (also have a retroverted) it moves forward as it moves up and out. Surely they could do an internal scan if you really wanted to know but could see by 16 weeks? I know they avoid them if not necessary but I’m having them once a week for my cervix and they constantly reassure me that it’s not going to damage the pregnancy.

Do you mean ‘inverted’ OP?

I have a retroverted uterus (as do around a quarter of women) and it doesn’t impact any scans or way of getting the information. As you’ve discovered, sometimes the scan needs to be done transvaginally but normally (baby’s position taken into account) an external one is fine. Your uterus will have popped forward a bit by 16 weeks and it’s unlikely you’ll need another transvaginal one for this pregnancy.
