Hi

Decided to try for another child but worried left it later. I completely understand people's experiences are different but out of curiosity how long did it take people to get pregnant at 33?
DH works away so DTD is limited...

About a week! I was 34.

But it's irrelevant really - it takes some people years.

DelurkingAJ · 29/01/2026 13:53

Less than a month at 32, five months at 35. No ovulation tracking or any other tools used.

RarePeachBear · 29/01/2026 13:57

33 really isn't late to be trying for a child. Fertility does decline of course in later years, but you're still young and it really shouldn't be an issue - it'll come more down to luck and whether you have any other underlying conditions.
I got pregnant at 34 last year on the second cycle of trying, so it can definitely happen! Good luck.

elliejjtiny · 29/01/2026 13:57

By accident at 31. Bit of a shock as it took 7 months when I was 22. I think it's around 35 that fertility usually starts to decline.

Herewegoagain85 · 29/01/2026 13:58

1 month at 34, 2 months at 37...33 is YOUNG or at the very most an average age for conceiving these days.

But yes, it's all very individual and various factors will impact it - but as a blanket rule, no issue.

Ketryne · 29/01/2026 14:12

Happened on the first go at 31 with DS, then at 33 I got pregnant on the first and second try twice but miscarried twice. Then had a short break and got pregnant on the first re-attempt at 34 and that was DD. I don’t think the miscarriages were particularly to do with age, just bad luck, as I had tests and nothing was found, plenty of follicles seen on scans etc.

chouxchoux · 29/01/2026 14:13

First cycle trying last year. Ended in a chemical about a week later. Two and a half weeks later we conceived twins who will make their arrival this spring, all being well!

Hotdoughnut · 29/01/2026 14:14

33 is young now! Nobody can tell you how long it'll take for you.

Tax12 · 29/01/2026 14:32

Thank you, I think I'm comparing to friends who all had their children young. Lovely hearing positive outcomes I just need to not worry and just see what happens (I'm a worrier as you can tell!)
Thank you!

33 isn't old at all. I had my first at 35. Second was conceived in one try at 37. It must be hard if everyone else around you had children younger.

tarheelbaby · 29/01/2026 14:45

If this is not your first DC, it may be very quick. But just as every baby's different, so is every woman.

I conceived DD2 on the first try at 37 but that was in part b/c I had been off BC for a few months and also, I knew my ovulation cycle well from conceiving DD1 at 34 - that took about 5mos but mainly b/c we were DTD too late in my cycle.

Hopeandwonder · 29/01/2026 16:34

I promise you 33 isnt old. Your fertility is pretty similar at 33 to a 27 year old. You haven’t left it later / too late.

roots6 · 01/02/2026 06:45

Fell pregnant in my first cycle trying at 33, unfortunately had a MC but was very lucky to conceive again straight away. I’m now pregnant with twins and everything going well, babies will be here just before I turn 34 ❤️❤️

Pandorea · 01/02/2026 07:03

I conceived in the first month of trying as well at 33. Took 3 months at 36 and first month again at 38.

CremeEggsForBreakfast · 01/02/2026 07:10

Had my first at 30. Took about 3mths of actively trying.

Got carried away one night when I was 33 and forgot the condom. Now I'm 6mths pregnant.

Nobody can tell you how long it will take you but your age is definitely not one of the top factors.

Currently 16 weeks age 33. We were pregnant on second cycle of trying. I did use ovulation sticks and a preconception supplement.

Isn't 33 a totally normal age to have a baby? I am 38 - had no issues at all.. I wouldn't worry about it.

I think it depends on where you live in my area that would be old but London probably be quite young or average

Mich1986 · 01/02/2026 12:41

Was quicker to get pregnant at 35 than it was at 29 with my babies and a miscarriage at 27.

but still, nationally the average age at childbirth is around 31, and early–mid 30s is very common across the UK. 33 is well within the norm. OP is worried she has left it late, she is totally within the normal average age range.

GhostMutt · 01/02/2026 13:08

Everyone really is different.
It took me about six cycles when I was 33. I was in the best shape of my adult life and actively trying. After I finished bf for 2 years, fertility never returned to what it was. Hormones were all over the place. By 36 was told after tests I was in peri. My mum was through menopause by 48 and I reckon I will be too.

ImpatientlyWaitingForSummer · 01/02/2026 13:13

Had my first at 37, six months after coming off the injection (I was told I had polycystic ovaries so wanted to try and get my hormones back to “normal”), and had my second at 39 whilst on the mini pill!

cauliflowercheeseplease · 01/02/2026 13:14

My first took us 4 months, I was 36. My second, took us one attempt. I’ll be 38 when he’s born.

Is that the average age including women who have had fertility treatments?
