Sepsis During Labour and Pregnant again

As title says,
I became septic during a long labour, also had a pph of more than one litre.
Im currently 8 months post partum and 4 weeks pregnant. I didnt think it would happen for us this soon, but first go and here we are. Im thrilled as I always wanted more but frightened to go through it again.

I have been googling which I know I shouldn't, but alot of issues come up. Im very nervous of giving birth again. The sepsis originated in my womb, as my waters were broke at 1cm and in labour for 36+ hours. Baby was delivered by forceps, with a brain bleed because of this. Baby still has scaring on head. My baby is meeting all his milestone and a very happy little chap.

So far I have read, im more susceptible to an etopic pregnancy, low birth weight, still birth, premature and baby has developmental issues.
I suppose im wondering has anyone been through the same thing and there outcome?

Any advice greatly appreciated.

I didn’t have exactly the same issues as you but I did have a traumatic birth with DC1. With DC2 I went for an ELCS and it was wonderful. Would this be something you would consider? I think it would be very justifiable in your case.

Again, not quite the same, but when DD1 was born, my waters broke, contractions didnt start for another 16hrs, then she was born 13hrs after that. She had GBS sepsis (although i was fine). With DD2, I found that everyone was much more aware of my history, plus I was much more confident about making sure I had the IV antibiotics (which i did not have first time). I did plan a ELCS but not due to the sepsis, more that DD2 was breech. When I went into labour before my section date, she had turned and so I said I would go ahead with a vaginal birth if I was able to get the antibiotics (which i was) and they also let me stay an extra night on the PN ward for monitoring, and arranged for a neonatal consultant to come and check over DD2 before discharge. I had preeclampsia but I think that is unrelated as I also had high BP in my first pregnancy.

When you have your booking appointment, you'll be able to discuss all of this in detail. I was referred to a consultant and then later on in pregnancy had a "birth options" meeting with a consultant midwife told go through all my history and what could be done.

I had pretty much an identical first delivery- long labour, large PPH, forceps delivery, sepsis. We started TTC & I fell pregnant with my son when my daughter was 9 months old and was really worried about another birth like that.

Son is 11 weeks old now and I cannot even explain how different my second birth was. Pregnancy was totally fine, easier than my first, he was measuring large from 28 weeks and was born 8lb 6oz 1 week early so not huge but not small. My second labour was just amazing, 4 hours from my waters breaking to him being born, no assistance required (no cut, no forceps), I did tear but that all easily stitches and healed well, no sepsis or infection at all second time round, I did have another PPH but only 1L so much smaller than my first. You are at higher risk of having another PPH after having one the first time so for my second labour my consultant advised having a cannula fitted when my waters broke so that if needed I could have given meds/bloods immediately so I did have it fitted but in the end didn’t need it. So far he is absolutely perfect and hitting all expected milestones right on time, good luck!

I had sepsis at 36w during my second pregnancy. Had dc3 15 months later, pregnancy went well, gave birth on my due date 7lb 10oz, quick and straightforward delivery.
