Reduced Movements

Hi all

I’m currently 37 weeks pregnant with my 2nd baby

I have been closely monitored throughout this pregnancy due to past pre-eclampsia with my son who is 5 and, apart from her measuring a little bit on the smaller side, I’ve had zero complications so far thankfully!

My issue is, I’ve had 3 reduced movement episodes now. I’m not naturally a worrier so I genuinely have only been in when I’ve felt like it’s warranted.

First time was 36+0, I was put on the monitor for 20 minutes and told all was fine and sent home.

Second time 36+4 I was put on the monitor for 60 minutes and told all was fine but referred for a scan the next day.

Had the ultrasound at 36+5 which was all perfect - baby girl now measuring 19th percentile which is great so was sent home. Didn’t see a doctor or anything though.

Then I went in yesterday at 37+0 as baby had not moved pretty much the entire day/evening again - put on the monitor again for 60 minutes and told all was fine and to go home and ‘not worry as much’.

I am booked in to see a doctor (which is an appointment I already had booked anyway) as they wanted to see me one last time in antenatal clinic before birth, but that isn’t until 38+5 (so almost 2 weeks time).

I know everything keeps looking fine but I just can’t shake off this awful feeling that there must be some kind of reason to why she keeps stopping moving? She’s been very consistent since around 24 weeks onwards so it’s really stressing me out now 😩

I know all trusts are different but isn’t it policy to see a doctor after a 3rd episode, particularly now I’m at term? Should I push for this or am I being overly anxious?

Any other experiences with repeated episodes of reduced movement?

Thank you in advance!

I was induced after the third time of no movement, I was 39 weeks though. If you’ve got a gut feeling I would act on it ☺️

I’d understand if they didn’t want to induce right away as I’m only 37 but I just assumed I’d at least speak to a doctor about my concerns or have extra monitoring or something 🙈 I feel stupid for not pushing it yesterday really. She’s been very active this morning but seems every couple of days she just goes completely quiet again!

I didn't see a doctor until a presentation scan picked up stalled growth at 37+6. As I'd already had six episodes of reduced movements they induced at 38+2 (weekend was in the middle). But said that any more reduced movements over the weekend and they would induce immediately. However, the reduced movements by themselves didn't trigger me seeing anyone.
