Early gender test

Hi 👋🏻
Has anyone ever had bloods done for early gender test at 7 weeks?
how accurate are they?
were they right for you?

I have suffered with gender disappointment with previous pregnancies, and thought this time if I find out early I’ll have more time to come to terms with it.
but no I’m really anxious about finding out.
I feel like I can’t win with my emotions at the moment.

I think I would spend the money on some counselling instead. Find out why it's so important to you. A person's sex is one aspect of them among myriad others.

ToKittyornottoKitty · 19/01/2026 12:55

I’d agree on counselling, to keep getting pregnant knowing you will feel this way isn’t fair on you or your babies. Deal with the route cause, knowing the sex earlier won’t change the outcome

Niftymum88 · 19/01/2026 13:26

1- this pregnancy was a surprise and wasn’t planned. I don’t keep getting pregnant excepting a different result.
2- I know why I suffered gender disappointment and that was due to having 5 girls. And pressure from family wanting a boy.

i was simply asking people’s experiences from these scans not of if I should get counselling.
my issue is I don’t want to disappoint family members.

all my children are loved no matter the gender and this one will be too. And you know maybe being anxious about it might be due to pregnancy hormones 🙄

but thanks for the advice

And finding out earlier would possibly give me more time to overcome any feelings I might have. Find a name I can fall in love with and buy things.

last time I found out late 24 weeks and wasn’t u til she was born the feeling of disappointment completely floated away.

unless you understand gender disappointment or have experienced it yourself you won’t understand

i had the NIPT done at 10 weeks with my twins and that came with a confirmation of sex - not due to gender disappointment - multiple rounds of IVF and 8 losses tends not to lend itself to feeling disappointed - I needed to know if I was likely to lose them due to previous genetic abnormalities in my losses and I thought since I was paying +£400 I’d find out the sex at the same time to be able to bond earlier with them and make them more “real”

I think you can do the boy/girl test from about 6 weeks I’m not sure of the accuracy of them though

WindTheBobbinAgain · 19/01/2026 13:37

I found out with both my children as had private NIPT for t21/18/13 through choice at about 11 weeks. I had gender disappointment with my first (not rational or good of me!) and it gave me time to process and then the second time the same. I wouldn’t do it too early in case you have a miscarriage as it might make it harder I guess but I liked knowing.

I paid to do sneek peek, came back as girl....

Currently sat here holding my sleeping BOY!!

I would not recommend.

Thankfully, I did it out of excitement, I didn't mind what I ended up with, just wanted a healthy baby.

If you don’t mind me asking
how far was you when you did it? And was it at a private clinic or at home?

I know if it’s done too early it can come up as girl because there’s not enough fetal dna

I was 10 weeks and it was a test at home kit from a company called sneak peek.

Wouldn't waste the money again. X

Hey, yeah my wife and I had the bloods done at 7 ish weeks, and got confirmation at 20 weeks that it was correct 😊 the company we used sent a cute little gender reveal video via email too 💙

I wouldn't do it lovely, these places are happy enough to take your money with massive disclaimers, that although they try their best, their not always correct.

Given you're worried about gender disappointment, is it worth putting yourself through that? Xx

ImpatientlyWaitingForSummer · 19/01/2026 18:30

Had sneak peak with both mine at scan clinics and both completely accurate! I didn’t have a preference I’m just a very impatient person 😅

Bloodycrossstitch · 19/01/2026 18:38

Given what you said about the disappointment going away once your daughter arrived have you considered going the opposite way and not finding out until they’re here?

I have thought that, but then I have visions of me not bonding.
im looking a both clothes and picking both names and I’m feeling ok about it. I’m just worried about my own reaction if you know what I mean.

Gender dissapointment is real for a lot of people and its only natural to want a boy after 5 girls. Anybody who says different would be lying. Your family shouldnt be putting pressure on you, they should embrace a healthy baby outcome, be it boy or girl. Good luck, I really hope it all works out for you.

GreenLemonade · 20/01/2026 15:50

I did an early gender test from AlphaBiolabs around 7 weeks. It was accurate.

I was just curious, I had no gender preference.

I would suggest booking in a 16 week gender scan rather than the 7 week blood tests as they have been inaccurate for a couple of my friends

I think it’s reasonable to have a preference for a boy after 5 girls ☺️ like you say this baby will be loved regardless and a healthy baby is always the main goal.
