To take nub theory with a pinch of salt?

I had my first scan yesterday and I'm 13 weeks. Unfortunately, today curiosity got the better of me, and I paid a few quid for a seemingly reputable site to predict the baby's gender based on the 'nub theory' . They predicted a girl.

I don't know why I did it and really wish I hadn't. I actually don't mind what sex my baby is, only now I've got it in my head that we're having a girl... but I know they're not totally accurate so it's a false sort of knowing... In a way it's worse than having no idea.

How accurate are they really? The site was 'nubtheorycheck' and apparently it's trained professionals who check the image, but can they really tell from one blurry ultrasound?

Has anyone used that site before, and how accurate were they? I wish I'd just waited til the 20 week scan.

Ive never heard of that one. I just checked it out and they claim to to predict the sex of your baby between 10 and 13 weeks.
Im a bit sceptical as at 10 weeks, you cant tell unless its a blood test. At 10 weeks the angle of below 30 degrees can change if thats what they are going off. How much do they charge ? Update when you have confirmation please.

Hi, confirmation of what?

They only charged a couple of quid. £2.65 or something.

Yes the whole site seems dodgy, especially the stock photos of the so called 'midwives' who all miraculously went to Harvard medical school or Stanford or whatever. Reverse Google search on images revealed none of them are real people.

You submit the ultrasound image and choose three of the professionals waiting online, who then supposedly check the image and deliver their prediction and report within 15 minutes.

Yes it sounds dodgy doesnt it. I meant confirmation if they were right (when you find out ) and you are having a baby girl. They are probably just guessing anyway so chances are they are 50 % right.

I done one these; on the Facebook groups though, I took with a pinch of salt but everyone who commented got it right.

I think it's actually pretty reliable when done by someone who knows what they're looking at, with a picture that shows the right bits. I did it with DS and the two 'professional' ones I did were correct, as were the majority of the responses on the FB group I tried. I've picked up enough of it that I can tell pretty confidently if the picture is obvious enough.

FB groups are usually reliable. Always been right for me.

I did this too, and I’m in the same boat wishing I had waited but I actually find out in 10 days so I’m just being very impatient. Can anyone guess what they think? I’ll be interested to see if it matches what they say.
