Got myself in a tizz 🙈

Had a lletz procedure done 8 n half years ago. I know I’ll need to let the midwife know at my booking appointment.

Has anyone else has this procedure done before and managed to go to full term?

Hi, I had lletz 9 months before having DD1, I was booked in for a cervical scan at around 21 weeks because of this, because of some other things going on I was scanned weekly initially and they found that my cervix had shortened by 1cm to 2.4cm at around 24 weeks, I was put on progesterone and then at 31 weeks was signed off work due to a soft cervix. At 37 weeks I was 1cm dilated, 40 weeks 2-3cm dilated (could stretch to 4cm on my sweep) went into labour at 40+5, so after the initial stress all was fine and my subsequent pregnancy 7 years later my cervix stayed at the standard length. Your midwife will discuss at your appointment, Congratulations on your pregnancy:)

I had 2 lletz and 3 cauterisations before having DS. Got to 33 weeks with no problems. He did come early but they couldn't find a reason for this.

I had a lettz six months before I got pregnant with one of my sons.
He ended up being over due by 12 days.

Had my DC full term, no issues, LLETZ didn’t affect pregnancy or cervical length at all. It was monitored more closely though, which made me feel much better about things.

The risk to pregnancy from LLETZ is very low, but not absent, so do exactly as you say you are going to and let the midwife know and they will take it from there, try not to worry too much and enjoy your pregnancy 😊

Lletz less than a year before first pregnancy, extra scan at 21 weeks to check cervix, all good, no problems for the whole pregnancy, birth at 40 weeks and 2 days. Second pregnancy everything was the same, birth at 40 weeks and 2 days also... Both times naturally.

In the sameish boat OP, I had a lletz 2 years ago but it was 3x 10mm passes and a 4th unknown measurement, so quite severe (I had a massive haemorrhage two weeks later too, so have some trauma from the memory).

Currently 15 weeks, and am getting fortnightly cervical scans from 16ish weeks onwards to monitor. Depending on your lletz they’ll come up with a safe treatment plan. I’ve read through a lottt of stories online and even in the most borderline stories medical intervention allowed pregnancies to continue to a safe term. I want to reach 30 weeks and then I can start to unwind my worries with every passing week!

but basically, it seems that their interventions work well if they’re even needed.

Yes, I had numerous lletz to the point where I have almost zero cervix, 1 milimetre in places. I knew this in advance and was prepared: I had to have a cervical stitch at 14 weeks and it held. Unpleasant I won't lie but without it there's no way I could carry a baby.

DD is 12 now and a delight ❤️

I also had to put progesterone pessaries up my bum every night 🤪 and I was monitored every two weeks. Do you know how short your cervix is? The important thing is that the doctors are aware and can plan.

I had a LLETZ and (2nd) baby full term no issues 4 years later and then full term twins 2 years after that. No issues with pregnancy or birth with any of them ♥️

I have no idea. Last time I went for a smear it took 45 mins for them to find it 😂
