What is going on with me?!

I posted in here a few days ago (so sorry if you’re seeing me again) regarding my period not having arrived yet and me testing negative. Well it’s now 2 weeks late, I am still testing negative and I know that should be reassuring but honestly for me it isn’t, I’ve never been this late on my period before. The last time I had sex (pull out) was dec 24th, I’m seeing all sorts of cm (tmi) ranging from creamy to stretchy, I really don’t understand! I am still worried somehow my tests are missing a pregnancy (which is probably stupid) and I do plan to go to the gp if it goes past 60 days. I am worried, does anybody have any advice or reassurance for me?

Book Your GP appointment for 12 days time so you can be tested. And use that time to figure out your contraception. No point in ruminating on pregnancy in the meantime, it’s just creating unnecessary drama.

I will but I’m just so confused. I don’t like the stress of not knowing what’s happening

You said you planned on going to the GP if it goes past 60 days - so you were happy to be ‘worried’ for that long? As I said, use this time to sort out some contraception.

Yes I will be using protection from now on obviously. And no I’m not happy to be worried I am in fact a very anxious person but I’ve seen that doctors don’t tend to step in until it’s been that long or more. I keep testing negative though so I really don’t know

It could be your anxiety that's making you late. Stress can play havoc with periods.

But this late?? I’ve never been this late before. I am very anxious that’s true but I just want this to end!

Yes, easily this late. Anxiety can make your periods stop completely or, alternatively, last for weeks. The brain is a very strange thing.

YorkshireGoldDrinker · 03/01/2026 10:30

A few days late can be easily explained. Two weeks and beyond with no period warrants a GP visit. Please see your GP.

You think I should for 2 weeks? Especially with negative tests right?

The negative tests are indicating that there is no detectable hCG in your urine. The first thing your GP will do is a urine test like what you've done, and if that's negative, they'll do a beta hCG test which is a blood test. Blood shows a more detailed picture of what's going on in your body than urine does.

I definitely do not want to be pregnant right now I know that for certain. So you think there’s a chance I could still be?

I can tell you're worried, but I have absolutely no idea if you're pregnant or not. You really need to see a GP, so please see them. Everything will be okay.

Thank you for this. The only reason I didn’t think of that first is I’ve seen everywhere your period needs to me many weeks or even months absent with negative tests obviously, for a doctors visit

Kindly OP, you’ve already gotten all the information anyone could possibly give you on your other thread. Make an appointment with your GP for a blood test, contraception (the unprotected sex happened with your boyfriend of 2 years so clearly you need something long term) and also seek help for your anxiety. Do something about it rather than thinking and talking about it here.

If you only had sex 10 days ago it’s possible it’s just too early for tests to show up. Sperm can live for up to 5 days before fertilising an egg. It then takes about 6-12 days for that egg to implant. Then it takes a few days for your body to create enough HCG to show on a test.
However, if you were already a few days late for your period when you last had sex it’s unlikely your late period was due to that unless you’ve had unprotected sex before that? And if you did have unprotected sex before that then it not likely it’s too early to show up. The dates don’t add up unless there’s missing information. The 24th December was 10 days ago and you say now you are 2 weeks late on your period.

When exactly have you had unprotected sex over the past month? When exactly was your last period? And when exactly do you believe you were due on your latest one that you say is late?

I also had it weeks before on the 5th (sex that is) and also the day my period was due (20th) however obviously it did not show up!

if I was pregnant from the 5th though even I know I’d have the most blazing positive ever by now. I just don’t know what’s up at the moment

Tests are more than 99% accurate once period is due/ late.

The human body can be unpredictable. It'll arrive eventually.

Tiedyeegg · 03/01/2026 14:26

I’ve known a couple of people who’ve tested negative on urine test throughout their pregnancy.
Regardless I’d make a ho appointment, if nothing else because it’s causing you so much anxiety

CheeseNinja · 03/01/2026 14:58

One of my periods was late 42 days last year, no explanation. Just one of those months. They can be late for many reasons including stress, ovulated late, didn’t ovulate at all etc.

Today is 20 and 18 days respectively from the last sexual encounters. I have tested negative every single time. If I have no answers by next week i’m going to the gp.

I’ve randomly skipped a period a couple of times, so double the normal cycle length ish. I don’t think it’s that uncommon. I googled at the time and it said it wasn’t something I needed to go to the gp for. I can’t remember the exact details for when you should see the gp though. Sometimes your body tries to ovulate, fails the tries again, which can lengthen a cycle. Stress, weight gain, weight loss, ttc vitamins (did this for me me) and many things can all affect cycles.
