When did your morning sickness stop?

I'm 11 weeks today and I'm being sick every morning and then the nausea comes and goes in waves throughout the day. I am incredibly grateful to be pregnant and the symptoms are making it feel more real after 4 years of trying (2 rounds of IVF) but just out of interest, I know everyone is different but when did this ease?

When the baby was born. It was all day, every day, I actually lost weight with my first. I sympathise with anyone who has had that. The good bit was i had very easy labours, I was told that the old wives tale was, the worse the morning sickness, the easier the labour.

Birth with all 3. Hope it is better for you.

With my first daughter it started at 8 weeks finished about 17 and then came back at 35. No sickness at all with the other two. I lived on ginger biscuits for 30 odd months of my life!

It started to get better around 16 weeks and was almost completely gone by 20 weeks. The second half of pregnancy was so much nicer! I did take medication though and would definitely recommend it. I should have asked for it sooner!

Cocktailsandcheese · 02/01/2026 20:20

Mine eased around 20 weeks but then I got awful reflux which needed medication.

It eased up at about 25-28 weeks with my three babies. It’s just an awful awful feeling.

Every day for 8 months. Vomiting up to 10 times a day. It was a bloody nightmare 😂 However - this type of sickness is still fortunately quite rare, and for most women it starts to get better between around 12 - 16 weeks. Hopefully you won't have long to go OP.

Things I found that help - sipping cold drinks, ginger ale, water, any squash you can tolerate etc. I found fresh strawberries very helpful, as well as plain lightly salted crackers. I also found fresh tomatoes helped but tbh they were a real craving - I made DH go and get some from the 24 hour asda at 11pm once as I was running out and panicking!

Until 14 weeks with baby 1 (mild- sick 3-5x a week)

Until 9 weeks with baby 2 (but it was more intense with this one- sick 3-9x a day by week 8)

Before baby 1 I had a miscarriage at 11 weeks and I was only nauseous in that pregnancy. So it was horrible but I took the sickness as a good sign for me.

14 weeks, pretty much to the day both pregnancies.

Vickim03 · 02/01/2026 21:31

I was sick all through out. But also had an on going uti that wouldn’t go as couldn’t keep the antibiotics down. That was my first, second was much better. My mum always said it’s a good sign… there’s still lots of homones flying around. My first was born a healthy weight despite me living on air.

Brentinger · 02/01/2026 21:49

16 weeks it went away for both pregnancies . Peaked between 8-12 and gradually got better. Meds helped if you can get them. Hang in there - if will get better !

Scalessayeek · 02/01/2026 22:16

With my first, 36 weeks. Waters went at 36w+4 😕

WhatMe123 · 02/01/2026 22:18

Eased around 11 weeks but stuck around until 16 weeks but that was more manageable, more a sicky feeling when hungry then after this went totally

Ponderingwindow · 02/01/2026 22:20

Once dc was born.

ShesTheAlbatross · 02/01/2026 22:30

14-ish weeks I think. I was on medication.

I read a lot about it when I was pregnant and weeks 9-10 is on average when it peaks so if you’re 11 weeks with any luck you’ll be coming off the peak soon! Obviously I know that’s not the case for everyone but hopefully you’ll start feeling better.

healthanxietynightmare · 02/01/2026 23:26

When I gave birth. It was awful but worth every minute of sickness.

sellthebigissue · 03/01/2026 00:02

Mine never left. HG. 😭

It’s horrible! It was 16 weeks for me with DD1 and more like 28 weeks with DD2! But didn’t feel as bad with her overall so I think DD1 pregnancy was actually worse
