Hiya I’m just wondering if anyone could help?

my last pregnancy my waters were broke for to long I got sepsis which then led to uterine atony and my little one strep b. I lost 2.5lts of blood. We’re both ok and healed well. As bizarre as it sounds it’s like it never happened a surreal moment although we both nearly died. But I was wondering has anyone gone on to have successful future pregnancy’s?

I always had the notion I would loved to have had one more after this little one. But after this I’m really lost in the thoughts of is it safe is it even possible etc?

im not looking at falling pregnant soon but it’s more of something I can’t seem to shift of my mind if that makes sense.

thank you for reading

Yep, I did. Lost 1.2 litres. External compressions didn't work, registrar had to put his whole fist inside me and press from the inside..."unpleasant" would be the British way to describe that experience.
Second birth was totally fine. As soon as the cord was cut they put me on a tranexamic acid drip to reduce bleeding and encouraged the placenta out. Very very closely monitored at this point. Only lost about 400mls - couldn't believe how little bloods was splashed around compared to the first time!

Hi there it's a midwife.

I am sorry to hear your had such a dreadful experience. It's not common.

The doctors and midwives will be very much aware of your history and making lots of precautions.

You should also get antibiotics as soon as you go in labour as you first baby was affected by Strep B.

I hope it helps

Oh goodness sounds very similar I had the same and at the time had no idea that’s what they were doing I had the balloon and vaginal pack in and thankfully minimal bleeding. I was in hospital for a week due to the blood infection and my blood pressure as that got up to 190 in theatre and my iron was all over the shot. Sounds bizarre but I always had this feeling I’d have another after this bean. When I had my twins there was trauma nothing like this but I knew I wanted another n did. But this has scared me so much im like am I just being silly for wanting another or is it tempting fate so to speak. I’m so glad your second went a lot better that’s lovely to hear 🥰

I know exactly what you mean - the room went from calm to very uncalm when the emergency button was pushed and about ten people rushed in who still couldn't stop the bleeding! Initially I was consultant led who (obviously) strongly advised against a home brith. Fine by me. But they were so on it the second time around - at every appointment the PPH was mentioned and they were very careful during the birth. I was worried anyway as it was more stressful leaving my two year old as I was worried about something happening to me and him not having a mum 😭 but it was fine. I'd be very hopeful that you'd have a much better time of it this time around!

It’s a no from me. I had to have my lining cauterized to stop bleeding (after being pummeled like a punch bag as they thought that maybe a uterine massage would do the trick, it didn’t). I developed Ashermans syndrome as a consequence, then had a restructure of the uterus which was successful but the damage to the endometrial lining was so severe I never managed to conceive again. I tried IVF. Sometimes people are lucky though, but the IVF was breaking me so I had to stop. Good luck wherever you are in the process, and hope your journey is better than mine.

Oh my goodness I’m so sorry you had this experience. It’s still early doors so I’m a way off making any decisions but it’s just something that I can’t shift. Like before this I was always adamant I’d love ( obviously if nature agreed) to have one more so this one had a sibling close of age growing up with as I had twins previous and loved their bond. Then this happened and I was like ok can I have more children am I tempting fate should I just stop. It’s like a million questions in my head that were never there before. I was always like if it happeneds it happens where as now I’m like is it safe to happen or even can it happen. Thank you for sharing your experience I really appreciate it x
