Hi all,

I had an elective c section 3 years ago due to my little boy being breech.

I am now 31 weeks pregnant and have decided to try a vbac. C sections are definitely not the easiest of roots and I don't fancy all that pain and weeks and weeks of recovery it took me. I was bleeding for 4 months after my c section and I was not very well physically and mentally.

Has anyone got any advice for labour or anything I need to prepare or classes I can go on?

I feel very lost with it all atm but I'm sure I can ask more questions to midwife at my 34 weeks apt.

Thanks ❤️

My advice would be to arm yourself with as much information and knowledge you can, but remain flexible and open in what 'birth plan' you'd like because you can control some things but not others.
Hypnobirthing would teach you a technique called BRAIN but you can learn about this via Google.
Ensure your birth partner is prepared to advocate for you, and know you both agree on a plan in different scenarios or even what consent they can/should give on your behalf.
Research different birthing positions, pain relief options, inductions and different types of it, the procedures that could be necessary, there ars so many variables, knowledge is power. Take a tour of your local hospital and ask any questions you have.
You can never predict a birth, so it's best to be aware of everything good and bad.

Good luck for your birth I hope it's a lovely experience!

Hope all is going to be okay. I had vaginal delivery this year and I will never do this again. I was bleeding for 7 weeks, had 2nd degree tear and episiotomy, 4th stage of piles. Never ever again I will choose this kind of thing.

I had a vbac and it was a generally positive experience. Although it was instrumental with some quite significant tearing, the recovery was still easier, particularly when you have an older one to take care of.
the element that surprised me is that some forms of pain relief won’t be available until you are quite well established- I wasn’t able to get an epidural as they won’t risk inducing you post a csection and by the time I was far enough along there wasn’t much time… so you need whatever pain management techniques you feel comfortable with ready. I tried Hypnobirthing and didn’t find it particularly helpful - but breathing techniques really did help and the practice for this was useful.
good luck! X
