Reduced movements 18 weeks

I am 18 weeks pregnant today.
I had been feeling slight irregular movements for the past 2-3 weeks, these had progressed to being daily from last week, and beginning of this week became stronger and I was feeling baby move multiple times a day. This was up until Wednesday (had my 16wk midwife check that day....she listened to heartbeat and all seemed fine) however Thurs, Fri and this morning have felt nothing i can definitely determine as movements.
I have 2 children already and don't remember this happening with them (know i would have panicked and so would remember if it did) i've been up since 5 in abit of a state worrying about it.I have now rung the midwife suite at the local hospital who said eat something, wait an hour, then ring back if still concerned.I was hoping to be able to go down there before my daughters wake up as they don't know about the pregnancy yet,and i'm feeling emotionally vulnerable so don't want to have to manage questions from 8yo.

I am thinking if the Maternity unit won't do a check I might book a private scan later today....hopefully everything is fine but if it isn't i would rather know :(

I guess i'm just looking for positive stories of others who this has happened to....i know the baby is still small and lots of places to move about, just seems strange that the movements were so obvious and now have completely gone.

Thanks in advance

Cold drinks or something sugary - see if that does it - if not just go in

don't wait too long op - the advice is always go and get seen now
i was in there 4 times wit my first and never made feel like it was a bother to check !!

Have something cold or sugary. If you’re still worried then go in. At this stage it’s likely that the baby has moved and you’re just not feeling the movements as much because of their position. But go and get it checked.

Thanks for your reply....I had a couple of quieter days later on with my girls, and went up to get checked straight away as per the advice from 24 weeks, but being so much earlier on i wasn't sure what to do as know movements are not expected to be overly consistent or strong at this stage, however when i've have them then they have stopped, it just feels quite worrying.
I've had a cold drink and sugary breakfast cereal, so waiting to see now what happens...

Call your hospital for advice, but I reckon from what ive heard that at 18 weeks it's too early to expect regular patterns of movement

18 weeks is definitely too early to expect any pattern.

Our local hospital won't see you for reduced movements until you're at least 24w.

I rung them again and they said to go in for a doppler check for reassaurance- the midwife could quickly sense movement but took a little while to find the heartbeat as baby has moved down deep into my pelvis! 🙈 but when she did it was all good and I then typically felt baby moving about again, cheeky monkey.

Just threw me abit as with my older two once the movements started they were quite consistent and obvious to feel.

So relieved the panic is over now and all is ok!
