Hi everyone

I have just had a first positive pregnancy test. I am going to buy a couple more just to double check as I’m still in shock and not quite believing it.

I was hoping for some advice to the next steps as I’ve never been in the position before and don’t have a clue what to do? I’m guessing get in contact with my GP?

Yep! Contact your GP, they will refer you to the midwife, you dont usually see anyone until 8 - 10 weeks of pregnancy.

Congratulations! X

Get your dates sorted, ie last period, write it down so you don’t forget, you will be asked this a lot. If you’re not already doing so, take daily folic acid. You could also get tests that tell you how far along you are. Some GP practices book you in with midwife, so do that now as chances are you won’t get an appointment for a couple of weeks. Congratulations, it will sink in soon.

Congratulations 🎊
I had a baby in 2024 and when I got my positive test a few months ago I still forgot what to do 😂😂

Contact your GP and they'll bring you in to confirm dates etc. They will either refer to for maternity care or they will show you how to self refer (hospital dependent). Start taking folic acid or folate if not already taking some. There's actually nothing really happens for the first few months... you'll gilet your first scan and booking appointment around the 11-13 week mark. The midwives will usually give you loads of information at this session and tell you when your appointments usually will be (so you'll usually have some GP and some midwife appointments).

But try to relax because damn those first few months until you get bigger and start to feel baby move are looooong 😂

Thank you! I have all the dates thankfully in the health app on my phone. So if all goes well should be having an August baby!

I do take Holland and Barrett women multi vitamin which has folic acid in, should I be taking additional?
I have attached the ingredients of the multi but I take.
