Can SPD start at 9 weeks? Is this SPD? If not, then what is it? Do I have to just get on with it? Can I hire a crane?!

When I wake up my pelvis really hurts, I can't move, I literally have to roll over in a straight line (i.e. like a log roll) and even that bloody hurts, it feels like where my pelvis meets at the front and back, instead of it meeting together, it's like it has slipped to being interlocking, if that makes any sense? I can actually feel what feels like the bones rubbing together.

This is DC3, I have had this same feeling before but towards the end of the pregnancies and not as bad as this, I've always just put it down to aches and pains of pregnancy etc. but surely I shouldn't be getting it this bad this quickly?

Not seeing MW till August, should I try and see someone sooner or are they just going to tell me it is the above mentioned aches and pains?

TIA

I had sacro-illiac joint problems in my first pregnancy (towards the end and afterwards). I was nervous of this happening sooner in my second pregnancy. At about 12 weeks I was in agony, I could barely walk, and I was distraught that it may continue for the whole 40 weeks. However, after a few days it eased and my midwife later explained to me that you get surges of the hormone relaxin at certain times in pregnancy and that this is what most likely happened to me at 12 weeks.

So, I know I'm not really answering your question with regards to whether you are starting to get SPD but maybe you could be having an SPD like reaction due to a relaxin surge?

HTH.

Thanks Meid, should I leave it for a week or so then, see what happens? If it is a relaxin serge I'd know by then, wouldn't I?

I have had SI problems with all 3 pregnancies, 15 15 and 12 weeks it has started although gets worse about 20 weeks.

I have had physio with limitied success last time she said my pelvis is still out of alignment and everytime she tries and puts it back it comes back out again, only sure is to have the baby

There are belts and exercises plus specialist maternity physio which can help you deal with it.

I had bad SPD right at the beginning of this pregnancy, and the midwife said it was because of the rush of hormones you get at the beginning. She said it was the relaxin causing the joints to soften up that was triggering the SPD.

Sure enough, things got much better towards the end of the first trimester, and it's only now the baby is getting bigger that the SPD is causing problems again.

Mine kicked in at ten weeks. Went to see physio and got crutches by week 14 - which helped a bit.

Of course now I'm 32 weeks everything hurts anyway and I'm about as mobile as a Ford Fiesta on bricks.
