Could you still drive ? Would you recommend me asking DH to drive me to and from work for a few days after starting this pill

Did it work for you?

Any side effects ?

I've had "mild" HG in all 3 of my pregnancies (if you can call HG mild!)

Currently 25 weeks into 3rd pregnancy and taking xonvea and ondansetron. I felt like a zombie on xonvea but only for a week then my body got used to it. I didn't feel sleepy, just felt heavy so I felt fine to drive, I wasn't at risk of falling asleep but I agree drowsiness would be a definite concern when taking this medication.

I took xonvea alone for about 3 or 4 days but then took ondansetron as well because I still felt awful but maybe I didn't give the xonvea enough time to work on its own.

Either way the combination of the two did improve my nausia. I still felt sick all day everyday and it was horrible but it was less intense and it did mean I wasn't bed bound so it's been good for me.

I think you’ll struggle to drive for the first few days of taking it, and potentially much longer. I was completely spaced out for the first 48 hours after taking Xonvea, and there’s no way I could drive safely. Though I did adjust after that, I could tell my reaction times when driving weren’t the same as when medication free, and so I only drove for very short distances on familiar routes. I think you’d need to think about the insurance implications too- I’m pretty sure the patient leaflet states clearly that you shouldn’t drive after taking it. I’ve just weaned myself off Xonvea at 22 weeks and it’s noticeable the difference I feel in how alert I am.

And yes, it worked brilliantly for me though I was still vomiting quite regularly- a couple of times a week, and feeling very nauseous daily. However, I tried weaning myself off at around 18 weeks after I’d gone a full week without vomiting, and was then sick 13 times the following day and felt like absolute death. So, even though it wasn’t perfect at fully eliminating nausea I would clearly have been a hell of a lot worse without it!

I was on xonvea for my whole pregnancy (life saver) and I still was driving. Just the first couple weeks I didn’t as it made me sooooo sleepy but I had already stopped driving at that point as sickness made me housebound. But when sleepiness wore off and sickness calmed I was up and about and driving again.

I had to stop taking it at I couldn't drive or function properly. It was the most effective at reducing nausea and vomiting of all the drugs I tried though.

I am taking it and not driving. I feel less drowsy now than I did at the beginning but it says in the leaflet not to drive while taking it as it is a sedative… to me driving anyway is just not worth the risk were something to happen.

I took it in my third pregnancy and only vomited about once or twice a day instead of 8+ times with the first two, so I feel that it worked. I was tired but put this down to having two toddlers. I don’t have a car, but I would have felt safe to drive - I was able to continue to work shifts including nights without issue (the vomiting without medication was more restrictive than any side effects of taking the medication).
