Baby wearing coat for spring?

It's only November and quite warm in London, but I'm trying to work out if (1) I'll need a woolen maternity/ baby wearing coat for a baby due at the beginning of March?

I may or may not need a winter maternity coat, depending on if my existing double breasted coat will still fit, unbuttoned. I've bought a dedicated maternity coat, but the baby wearing insert is probably too insulated for a March baby, and is only parent-facing. Would I be able to use it the following winter, or will baby be facing outward by then?

I'm guessing I'll need more of a waterproof parka in spring when baby arrives - but this is my first, so I don't even know if I'll be wearing the baby for the first month, pushing it in the carrycot, or just staying at home!

Any insights welcomed.

No. Can’t say I have ever needed one and I wore Ds daily for 18 months.

On really cold snowy days ( we live in snowy country) I just tucked a blanket over the sling and him and wore my coat open. We were both cosy.

Maybe this is different for other people but I was always so warm pp! Hormones and breastfeeding make you sweaty :)
So for my winter baby I wore less layers myself but made sure baby was in a cosy snowsuit going in the sling. Also you may not be walking outdoors much til 3 or 4 wks depending on your recovery so it will be almost April by then!

I would buy a bb wearing coat specifically for spring but I do recommend getting a bundlebean rain cover!
They’re great, you can use them for babywearing, backpack carriers, on their car seat and on their buggy (with a lot less fuss than a normal raincover because they can see out)

Also it’s recommended that you don’t front face them for long periods of time no matter their age as it not great for their hips and they can’t safely sleep while front facing

Babies are like hot water bottles there's no way you'll want a coat in April. Just whatever jacket you have undone and baby keeping you warm on the front.

Definitely don't buy any of this until much nearer the time so you can see what the weather is like/how you feel about it.

I’ve got a Mamalila baby-wearing cover (vinted) and it means you can just wear your normal coat, it’s fab!

Am I the only one who just wore my husbands coats for pregnancy and baby wearing? 🤣

I had my baby in February (in Scotland) and baby wear daily (have done from about 3 weeks). I bought a baby wearing coat in anticipation (thinking Feb / March in Scotland I’d get a lot of use), barely used it and sold it on Vinted.

I wore ponchos with a slit that I made for the baby's head to stick through. This meant I could also use it when they were on my back when older.

Or I sometimes used a sling cover, though rarely a bundlebean as I found those faffy compared with others.

I'm walking around freezing cold Berlin with baby - put her in the sling and then put an oversized (very warm) coat over both of us, zipped up, and also with baby wearing a hat and little booties. Remember you will have time to buy whatever you need after the baby arrives, unless for whatever reason you'll have a day when you absolutely must go out and can't wait for home delivery (but even then, you could put baby in the stroller with a high tog sleeping bag and blankets as needed. I ended up buying way too much stuff before the birth that I never used, such a waste of money!
