My daughter is 14 weeks pregnant with my first grand baby. I’m 70 so a bit out of date with these things. It’s her birthday in 2 weeks. Any suggestions? Personal, not for the baby. Nothing scented as morning sickness is still around. Anything to make life easier?

Spa day? Some places do ‘pregnancy massages’ which are designed for pregnant ladies. A little bit of time for her to relax before the baby comes.

My DIL is 12 weeks pregnant and her birthday is very soon. I bought a 'hamper' and made up a self-care hamper for her with various bits and pieces - body lotion, shower gel, nice candle, chocolates, face masks, hair products - all things that she can use throughout the rest of her pregnancy to give herself a bit of a 'lift'. (And, if there's any left, she can use it after the baby is born too). I bought some fluffy socks too!

What sort of stuff do you usually get her or what does she usually like for her birthday?

Earrings (pink sapphire studs for her 30th), scented products (not appropriate right now), things for the house, (an airfryer last birthday). Norma birthday gifts.

I’d maybe get her another nice piece of jewellery or a pair of earrings if she likes them. What about something edible like a nice hamper with all her favourite biscuits, crisps, chocolate etc? A nice afternoon tea for the two of you?

Do you know where she likes to shop? I would have appreciated a voucher for H&M as I got a lot of my maternity clothes from there. Jewellery is always nice.

A pregnancy pillow, hot water bottle, new pjs slippers or dressing gown were what my family gifted me and I really appreciated them

I think a nice leg cream is always very much appreciated by pregnant mums. A nursing sister bought me a Clarins one it was like a gift from God, no smell and very soothing, my husband would massage my tired legs. I have bought the same for lots of ladies over the years and all have fed back what a lovely gift. Also a large soft bath towel and an over sized cosy robe are a comforting gift, so nice to be warm and comfy after a bath x

A pregnancy and breastfeeding jumper or sweatshirt.

nice chocolates?

a tv subscription??

The gift I most appreciated when pregnant (though more with a view to after the birth) was a Kindle paperwhite so that I could read at night while breastfeeding.

The other thing that springs to mind is vouchers for places that sell maternity wear.

Personally I didn't use any creams, lotions, etc. I was given during pregnancy and just stuck to unfragranced soap and jojoba oil for everything. The Little Soap Co do a lovely unperfumed oatmeal soap which might make a good little gift if she doesn't want scented things at the moment. We also use it for baby now.

Some lovely maternity PJs, Chelsea Peers have a nice range. My mum got me some when I was a similar stage of pregnancy and I enjoyed them all the way through, plus in the hospital!

Pregnancy massage!

For a colleague we all pitched in and bought gift vouchers to a meal delivery service so she didn’t have to do any cooking for a week post-birth.

JuniperandI · 05/11/2025 19:09

Anything to help her be more comfortable. Some nice bath salts for aches and pains, new slippers, a fancy lotion set. A pregnancy massage would go down a treat too!

Droplet789 · 06/11/2025 20:42

Pregnancy massage, pregnancy pillows, pregnancy pamper kits, luxury drinks hot chocolates etc.

I plan to fill her freezer in her last couple of weeks of pregnancy so neither of them have to do more than heat up a nutritious meal and can concentrate on their baby.

I got Chelsea Peers materniy pyjamas for Christmas when I was 6 months. I couldn't justify the expense myself but they were a good gift
