Hello

So the pregnancy insomnia has started at 35 weeks, and I felt the need to sleep alone last night.

I left my DH snoring away, and was out like a light on the sofa. I was thinking this might have something to do with preparing me for birth (the whole mammals need to give birth un-observed, in the dark, in quiet thing)? Anyone else had this? It's making me feel very guilty, normally I want to be around him all the time!

I love my husband. I want to be around him all the time during the day also.
However, come night time I'd rather be on my own and actually resent him when he comes to bed too close to my bedtime because then I'm awake even longer.
I suffer from insomnia at the best of times but pregnancy certainly makes it worse and some nights when he is snoring so loudly I like to imagine smothering him with a pillow 🙃
I wouldn't feel guilty if I were you for wanting your own space and actual rest before baby comes.
In fact, we have a bed set up in baby's room for this reason ( I also slept in a different room for a month with dd1 so that both dh and I got some rest, and for dd2 he used to get up even earlier for work and I'd go back to bed to get some sleep before restarting the day)
So long as you're both rested, who cares of you're in the same bed or not!

I spoke to a friend who has not long had her baby and she said the exact same, like she wanted to be away from her DP at night too. I feel like I want to 'return to the woods' and find a quiet cave to disappear to for a month, give birth and then emerge with the baby! I swear it's my brain rewiring for motherhood, what an incredible time pregnancy is 😬

No this is not abnormal and me and my partner have been doing this for a couple of weeks now (since I was about 33 weeks) and its really helped my mental state.

I need space to kick my legs about (RLS) and turn over like a rotisserie chicken every half hour. He falls asleep in seconds and start snoring, which I have become really sensitive to. He was a bit upset about it but I told him it's either that or I will start to really resent him. I just feel so huge and overwhelmed and restricted already, I can't bare having to accommodate another person in my sleeping space!!!

Do what makes you happy.
