I saw a midwifery support worker today who said I don’t need to continue taking pregnacare beyond 12w, only vitamin D. I know I don’t need folic acid anymore but what about all the other vitamins and minerals pregnacare contains?

All the vitamins do help for different things, just make sure theres no vitamin A in any of your supplements!

I kept taking folic acid and vitamin D up until around 26 weeks and then just kept forgetting to take them, i have no other vitamins that im taking, but a friend of mine said she kept taking her vitamins (over the counter like pregnacare) all the way through as it helped keep her iron up and her hair, skin and nails looked great all the way through pregnancy!

I dont know whether this is a sham because my hair skin and nails are doing good, im glowing, minimal spots (i used to get loads of hormone spots prior to pregnancy and have a really oily tzone!!)
My iron levels have never been low either.

But i guess it all depends on the person, whether to keep taking them or not! :)

I've continued taking mine, I'm 20 weeks now. I'm just taking the seven seas pregnancy one, I do have quite a good balanced diet but I like to take it knowing I'm definitely getting everything I need x

I'm going to continue my multivitamin through pregnancy (and beyond) because there's no harm in it. I take Proceive.

I took pregnancy and omega 3 vitamins throughout both my pregnancies and now I'm breastfeeding I'm taking post natal vitamins, extra calcium and omega 3

I had hyperemesis and limited diet with my first and severe fatigue with my second and struggled with food and weight gain in both pregnancies. When I was on hospital because of the fatigue they were supportive of me still being on vitamins to hopefully limit any deficiencies. i have a family of history of osteoporosis so I want to do the best for my bones. I am mostly dairy free as my first has a dairy allergy. When I was breastfeeding her the dietician recommended that I took 1000mg supplement of calcium so that's what I'm doing this time around. she also has beef and fish allergies and because of this the dietician was pleased that we were taking iron and omega 3 supplements as our diets didn't have sufficient sources through food. We have limited iodine too so make sure we use milk replacements with iodine fortifications

If we weren't on such a restrained diet we probably wouldn't be as diligent about vitamins and supplements!

Thank you everyone, I guess I will continue taking pregnacare then as it does no harm! My diet is pretty limited atm due to nausea so I suppose it will help with that too
