Morning sickness time off

I’m feeling so guilty about being off work. First trimester and nausea+vomiting.
This will be my third week off and can’t seem to do much other than lie on sofa. I’ve been saying can’t work a week at a time as I keep hoping it will pass but I think work getting bit fed up which makes me feel worse. Any others had time off? Somehow taking time off feels different to other illnesses even though it’s the worst I’ve felt

Take all the time you need. Have you spoken to your GP about antiemetics?
I had two pregnancies with bad sickness last year. The first one I kept trying to do what I could and ended having a fall in the night spraining my ankle due to lack of food and fluids. The second pregnancy I had I accepted a 4 week sick note and rested whilst it was the same intensity the impact by body was less. My GP actually offered me an 8week sick note. I'd ask for a 4 weeks off if you feel ready to go back sooner your GP can switch it to a fit note so you can ease yourself back in
I felt guilty about the time off but by taking 4 weeks my boss could put cover in place for me and any guilt was gone when a few months later they made me redundant. Don't make yourself worse for a job, rest as much as you need

I took about 6 weeks off where it was really bad and still felt ill for another 6 weeks after that! There was absolutely no way I could work as I couldn't even get dressed without feeling sick. I only starting feeling more functional from 18 weeks.

This is so weird as it did another thread asking if I was unreasonable to get a sick note and it was for all the same reasons you listed. I felt so nauseas, not actually sick and couldnt get off sofa. I only last 5 days and ended up in ED. I have been given cyclizine and prochlorperazine and it has made a huge difference after a day. I managed to eat properly.

I saw a post someone else put where she said her first pregnancy she pushed through suffered to the end and had barely any sick, she said her 2nd she was off sick for a month and she said her treatment was no difference and she said she was paid regardless of whether she acted like a marta or not.

I also saw someone else put that it's your babies health too and if you and baby need rest then take it. And dont feel guilty. And tbf I dont anymore, I had no choice but to go off sick. I felt so anxious about calling in but I physically couldn't go in. And now im debating when to go back or just take it slow.

And just take the medication to feel better, honestly I've immediately improved. Hope you feel better x

Take the time off, work will cope. Being tired or stressed will make your sickness worse and could make you seriously ill - I tried to push through in my first pregnancy, ended up admitted to hospital 3 times and having 3 months fully off work with another month gradually returning. Second pregnancy I just took the time (and medications) from early on and I only had 2 months off. I had severe HG, you may not need so long, but however long you need take it and rest because you will feel much worse if you don’t!

Hiya,

I was off from week 8-15 and zero guilt here!
I did what I had to do to survive this pregnancy with hyperemesis but have to mention that I had a very supportive workplace.

Take time off! See your GP for antisickness meds! Are you in the UK? Does your employer know that you are pregnant?

By law pregnancy related sick leave must be recorded separately to your normal sick leave, and cannot be used against you. But your employer needs to know that you are pregnant. Maternity Action

I had 8 weeks off (7-15) in both pg, followed by a phased return over 3 or 4 weeks.

Ask your GP for some anti sickness. One tablet when I really need it is keeping me sane, then at least you can rest whilst having time off and not feel so rubbish.
