Terrible acid

I'm only 16 weeks but I've started getting terrible acid. Is there anything I can take? I'd rather try natural remedies, does milk work? Help!!

Most of the baldies I've known have turned out blonde or fair.
Mine were very dark and very hairy

Milk does not work - it is acid itself.

You must eat as uch natural yogurt as you can stand as it is alkaline - trust me - I had a wonderful emergency doctor - a little indian man who had the sexiest voice (mind you so did I as the acid had burnt my vocal chords!) - he found me buck naked retching over the loo bringing up acid when I was pregnant with DS - I was peeing myself at the same time as I was heaving sooo much - I told him I had been drinking milk and he laughed and said - yes fight fire with fire - I from that moment on ate loads of yogurt and felt a hell of a lot better.

Much easier than swigging from the gaviscon bottle every few minutes.

Sorry - it is just the coldness of the milk that temporarily makes you think it is working but does not sort out the main cause.

Can't help re indigestion during pregnancy, but I've had my second bout of terrible heartburn (stress-related) over the last 3 weeks or so.

Advice from the GP:

eat little and often
sleep with the head of your bed propped up (more comfortable than trying to sleep on an extra pillow, which will probably just wreck your neck!)
relax - yoga/pilates and/or relaxation exercises (this was obviously specific to my condition, but will do you no harm!)

And in terms of food, avoid:

red wine (you probably already are!)
coffee
caffeine (so Coke/Pepsi/Red Bull are all out)
cheese
chocolate
spicy food

Peppermint tea is good.

Oh, and also avoid anything too fatty.

am currently 38+3 and hoping bump comes soon but I have found ambrosia rice pudding helps the burning during the day.
But Gaviscon at night and sleeping almost sitting up, although I do end up snuggled up under the duvet eventually and DH ends up starting off smothered by the duvet and ends up not covered at the end of the night - I think he is a saint!!
