Hi,
I had bloods taken 2 days ago, 32w+1 the midwife rang me today explaining they have been sent away for further investigation due to antibodies? I never had this with my previous two pregnancies and when I asked her she said nothing to worry about and changed the subject, has anyone else had this and what does it mean? Also now panicking beyond belief

Are you Rh- blood group? Have you been given the routine anti-d injection?

KTy29 · 07/10/2025 18:50

No she said I’m o negative so relatively a common blood group.

So yes you are a rhs negative blood type
She could be just sending off to see if baby is positive blood type and if you need a jab to help prevent antibodies and therefore body rejecting/causing issues with baby

@KTy29O- isn’t a common blood group, although a high demand blood type. Funnily enough, I’m O- but according to Google only about 7% of the population has this blood group 😊

Thanks for the replies just has me worrying now until I hear from her again ☹️… counting down 7weeks and hopefully everything will be ok

Honestly I wouldn't worry! It will have been a routine blood scan and they're double checking things. If they were concerned you'd have been told to go in ASAP

KTy29 · 07/10/2025 19:22

Yeah true, Thankyou again 😊

Yes that’s what I meant by Rh- blood group, sorry for not being clearer. At any point in your pregnancy have you been given an anti-d injection? It’s commonly given at 28 weeks. If so, antibodies will show in your blood. That’s not concerning as obviously they have been administered by the midwives. However, the lab just like to confirm that the antibodies ARE caused by the injection and that they’re not ones your body has created itself. If the antibodies aren’t D ones then they are ones your body has created.

No I had bloods done at 28 weeks but they was rejected as no hospital number was on the sample so had them re done this week, so I’ve had no injection so far
