Hi, i had my daughter in 2021 and the entire labour only lasted 5 hours but i only ended up with a first degree tear so everything was perfect in my opinion. However, i am pregnant again and i have read that when the first baby comes faster than 8-18 hours then the next pregnancy could be high risk for cervical incompetence or any other kind of cervix issue, is that true? Thank you.

Not a doctor and never heard of this however my first labour was about that and I was convinced the second would be faster etc because that’s what people say. The second was a lot longer, I was very fed up by the end of it but I think it’s because baby was a lot bigger. Anyways, very low risk pregnancy from start to end.

I have never had a labour lasts any longer than four and a half hours and all pregnancies went to term plus at least three days.
All low risk and midwife/ birthing unit pregnancies.
Only risk I’ve had is making sure I left home with enough time to get there, one born at home because I missed timed how long I had left and two born twenty minutes after we got there.
Definately consider how far/how long in traffic it might take you to get there.

I've had 4 children and my longest labour was 30 mins (my first) and other 3 were 20,15 and 12 minutes, no complications and no tears
