How to clean pram- ‘loft’ smell

Got a second hand pram from a family friend in really good condition, no stains etc but has the musty ‘loft’ smell. I’ve handwashed all removable parts and cleaned with Fairy non-bio but the smell is still lingering. What can I use to clean it with and get rid of the smell?

Can people who aren’t pregnant smell it? You might find you can’t smell it any more once the hormones are gone.

Husband can also smell it!

It's not really the time of year, but I'd try putting it out in the garden on a bright sunny day.

If you post in Housekeeping, folk there might have some other suggestions.

Wash with vinegar and put out in the sun x

Absolutely! Stick it out in the garden in the day, especially in the sun.

Get some cheap plain vodka, put it in a spray bottle and spritz until damp, let it air dry and repeat. Works for historical costumes, stage costumes, all types of things that get very stinky from repeat wear and put away for long periods of time.

I would recommend testing on a less visible patch first but I've seen this used successfully a lot so shouldn't worry too much.

Definitely air it in the garden on a dry day.

That's a tricky one. Mildew is incredibly difficult to remove (and it's not healthy for baby). Can you remove all the fabric and soak in tepid water with lots of vinegar and lavender liquid if you have it? Schedule it around a sunny day and put it outside in the sunlight to dry. In the sunshine in a sunny room would also work. I've had success with this method.

If you can't remove the fabric, you could soak the lot in a bathtub.

I'm not sure I'd risk it. Musty smell is often accompanied by mold which is really bad for small babies
