Anxiety after loss

Hi everyone.

I sadly had a miscarriage April 2025 and recently after 6 months of trying I have finally got my positive at 9dpo! Haven't missed a period yet and lines are getting stronger each day however I am on edge constantly worrying that if I go to the toilet there will be blood. I have been experiencing mild cramps like period cramps but nothing major and I'm scared it's going to turn the same way. Any advice? Are cramps normal :( anything to put my mind at ease right now

Sorry for your loss, and congratulations. I had a late loss before having my 1 year old, and I’d really recommend getting some counselling. I did it between rhe loss and getting pregnant again, and jt helped me so much. I have started again since having my baby as I was struggling post partum with anxiety. It is such a big help to me, has really got to the root of my anxiety and i know will help me be a calmer mum

Thank you! Luckily I was able to get some counselling with my work but unfortunately everyone is now being made redundant so unable to have said counselling anymore so will need to look externally now. 6+1 today though and so far so good everything is as it should be.

This sounds so difficult. What you're feeling is completely normal, that anxiety after a loss follows so many women on their journies into motherhood. I personally suffered with pregnancy anxiety after a miscarriage and found that the best way to cope was to take it day by day, to journal and to use affirmations. It also helped connecting with others who had been there before. There's an amazing app I used called Carea, it has lots of mental health tools you can use specifically for pregnancy anxiety as well as articles written by experts that can keep you feeling informed. The best bit is that it alters based on your unique journey e.g. if you've suffered miscarriage it will remove any triggering articles.

Thank you so much for your response. I will definitely look into that :) I do feel a lot more positive now but still got to wait until the 30th for a reassurance scan and it feels like a lifetime away

No worries at all! I'm glad you're feeling better, affirmations and meditation can help speed up that time as well as spending time doing something distracting that you love such as reading or watching your fave tv show. Wishing you all the best <3

Hi @OneHappyDreamer, sorry to hear you’re feeling so anxious. I’m the same, and also have an early scan booked for the 30th. I think in a way it’s making me more nervous as I’m afraid I’ll get bad news and it will all be over within the next couple of weeks! It feels too soon 😅
I find distraction to be really helpful. Do some activity that occupies your mind so it’s just not possible to think of anything else. Reading works well for me!

We have a scan booked for the same day!! I really hope yours goes well ❤️ tbh in this pregnancy I have had a lot more symptoms. I found myself at one point WISHING for morning sickness and now that I've got it luckily its not an all day event just feel like I've got the world's worst hangover🥺 Yes been trying to go on walks etc to distract myself and even just playing the sims haha but it's always in the back of our heads! I really hope your pregnancy goes smooth sparklerr xx

@OneHappyDreamerI hope yours goes smooth too! I think I’m about a week behind you. I’ll be thinking of you when I go for the scan, hopefully we’ll both get good news!

@OneHappyDreamerI hope you got good news today. I was thinking of you last night but was too anxious about my own scan to post.
Just home and everything looks fine and healthy. Saw yolk sac, fetal pole and heartbeat. I’m afraid to jynx it by typing! Still in shock, I was so afraid it would be bad news.
I’m only 6w5d so very early still, and I know things can change, but it’s so reassuring when my only previous experience was so negative.

So happy to hear your scan went OK!! Glad little bean is doing well also❤️ I had some bleeding Sunday unfortunately and thought the worse so was an absoloute mess as epu wasn't open. Had a scan Tuesday though just to make sure and everything is OK. Measuring as 8 weeks and very strong heartbeat. Have also been prescribed progesterone as well to support the pregnancy until 16 weeks. Have you thought about this too or asking them if you've had a previous mc? Here's little bean

That’s great! Delighted to hear all was as expected. It’s so reassuring to see that heartbeat.
They didnt mention progesterone, but they did offer another scan in 2 weeks time since its a bit of a wait until the official dating scan.
I’ve been feeling very nauseous too so taking that as a sign there are lots of hormones floating around! I had no sickness with the MC.

Yes same here and I never had sickness last pregnancy either really just sore boobs that was my only symptom but I'm in the trenches with this pregnancy haha! 😅
