Hi guys,

a bit of an awkward question sorry, I was told on my 20 weeks scan that my placenta is low lying but wasn’t given exact measurements I asked my midwife about intercoruse and she said it avoid any penetration until your next scan to be on the safe side.

however I was wondering if orgasm was okay without penetration… just in that sort of phase where hormones are everywhere lol
any advice would be appreciated I was to shy to ask the midwife about the orgasm lol

I was told not to in the same position. Sorry!

No it is not advised, it can stimulate the uterus and surrounding tissues to contract and result in bleeding.

With DC3 I had praevia again and at 26 weeks had a huge bleed that led to me spending most of the 2 months prior to their delivery in hospital with repeated bleeding. The trigger was bending down knelt on the floor to change DC2's nappy.

The placenta can move, with DC2 mine did. Wait until the next scan, it might have moved out of the way. You need to err on the side of caution until you know.

Thank you! Definitely will stay cautious then!

I was told I have a low lying placenta at my 20 weeks scan (last week) but no one said anything to me about this.
I have a scan booked to check it, but it’s not for 3 weeks. Should I be concerned?

There are degrees of how low-lying it is; if you are concerned you can look up pelvic rest and follow those guidelines until you can ask. I was also told not to have a bath or swim, and not to fly or be more than 20 minutes from a hospital, but that doesn’t mean the same advice should have been given to you.

@Sliceofbattenbergah okay, thanks for confirming. They didn’t say anything like that to me. They just said it’s low lying and it could grow into an old CS scar.
