Elective c-section - how many weeks do they let you go?

...because surely the longer you leave it, the more likely you are to be in labour on your own?

they let me go to the day that they would normally induce, so term +12 days here. But that was because I was keen for a vbac and they would only let me if I went into labour spontaneously.

I'm having an elective c section at 38+4. I think it varies between hospitals but it is usually 38-39 weeks.

They don't like to do it earlier as breathing problems become more likely due to underdeveloped lungs.

If you start before your c section date as long as you get to the hospital pronto they will still do it on the emergency list

I had elective cs at 39+2...
I had asked to go in at 38+3 and my hospital said no, there policy is to do them after 39 weeks, however if i had have gone into labour earlier i had to go straight in for one.

I had an elective section at exactly 38 weeks. They allowed me to book it for any time after 38 weeks. So I went for the soonest appointment!
