Hi all! Im currently 7 weeks pregnant with rainbow baby number 2. Have had some on off light pink and brown spotting which I’ve put down to using pessaries (as this has happened previously).
had early US a couple of days ago,
heartbeat and everything visible.
today I woke up to a lot of brown discharge but this has since turned to bright red spotting. A very small amount on the pad and more so when I wipe.
i know all of the negative outcomes of similar stories so just looking for some positive ones. I have another scan booked early next week.

My sister had this until she was about 20 weeks pregnant. There was never an explanation for it but the baby was born happy and healthy

I had this too, GP told me I was almost certainly miscarrying, and to go home and take paracetamol. I wasn’t miscarrying, my baby was fine. At the time I spoke to a friend about it as I meant to be flying out to his son’s Christening. His mother called and said she’d had bright red bleeding and spotting for a lot of her pregnancy with him. There can be many reasons for it, at this stage it could be implantation spotting as mine was, a friend had this too.
It really is pretty common and not always bad news. Good luck.

I had bleeding at 7 weeks, turned out to be the cervix had been irritated as it stretched. She’s a bright 10 year old now.

I had this and it was a subchorionic haematoma, like an internal bruise next to the uterus. It's more common in ivf pregnancies, but can happen to anyone. I had brown/pink spotting from weeks 4-8 with a burst of bright red blood around 7 weeks then it went away, then at 14 weeks I woke up bleeding bright red, had soaked my pyjamas, was a haematoma again and baby fine. I'm now nearly 20 weeks and everything had looked fine st every scan and check. EPU weren't very concerned as no pain and wasn't very heavy, but haematomas can bleed a lot! I know a few other people who've bled in pregnancy and wasn't a visible haematoma/no reason was found and their pregnancies are progressing fine. Good luck!

My best friend had quite a significant bleed at 6 weeks. Baby is now six months old and scrumptious.

Thank you all so much. It has tailed off a bit now so hoping it’s nothing! I’m on progesterone pessaries so know that these can also be the culprit to an irritated cervix! Fingers crossed all is well next week

I had this due to something called a chorionic bulge, with a haematoma underneath it. @The1mum did you know you can take progesterone rectally? I did this after the bleeding on the advice of a consultant - found it generally more pleasant tbf!

My bright red spotting at 11w was caused by cervical ectropion, baby was perfect. It happened again at 18w. Basically hormonal changes to the cervix itself. Best of luck.
