Carbon monoxide

Really worried as I keep blowing a high carbon monoxide breath test at my appointments they are going to repeat the test Friday.

I don’t smoke I quite 6 years ago, my husband doesn’t smoke. The carbon monoxide alarm isn’t going off ( I’ve even bought a new one) . I’ve ordered a new one to come tmro to put in my car ( because I’m worrying ) and the gas man is coming tmro to check boiler though he’s certain there’s no leak.

Has anyone else had this whilst pregnant !?!? The midwife did mention if your around cars a lot, my drive to work is only 5 mins and I work in a hospital .

Do you live near a big road? People in my area often blow high due to the M4

Not really it’s quite quiet round here. Car wise my only main concern or thought would be sometimes leaving work we all get stuck in a queue to get out of the multistory with all the arm fumes and engines running non stop. Other than that my drive home takes next to no time .

That's quite concentrated so might be enough to do it depending on how long you're sat there waiting?

yeah if can be a 15 to 20 min queue to get out sometimes with all cars stuck inside the multistory. I’ve panic ordered another carbon monoxide alarm for my car as well. My husband said to put the air circulating button on in the car as well.

just extra stress , the midwife also said if it’s not home or the car work might need to do carbon monoxide testing ( though no doubt I will be fobbed off )

Are you lactose intolerant and drinking milk? That can cause false positives on the CO machines.

The only time I had a high reading was when I had my booking in appt at the hospital I think it was 3 or 4? All my others I had 1 (this happened in both of my pregnancies) and the midwife I saw with DC2 after explaining the same thing happened with DC1 and I definitely do not smoke etc, suggested it was from the fumes in the hospital’s multi story when I was on my way in. No idea if she was right or not but our boiler was fine and all other community appointments I had came back with a low reading so it is a bit of a coincidence!

Interesting ! I wonder if when my new carbon monoxide alarm comes it will go off in the car if I end up in the hospital multistory queue. That would be helpful as atleast I could update my risk assessment at work and maybe leave at a different time.

This was the case for me. I was skeptical but went from a 6 down to a 1 after switching to lactose free milk. It's worth a try if nothing else seems to work.

Not as far as I’m aware but I might give that a go if it’s still high after my next test

I had this but it turned out to be a faulty machine. Have you had it repeated elsewhere?

Sadly I’ve had it done three times now at different centres. I am having the test again tomorrow.
