Dealing with work and nausea

I am 6 weeks pregnant and feeling awful all day. I am able to work from home a couple of days a week which has helped but I wondered how people have dealt with working and the pros and cons of telling work this early. I have anxiety about feeling sick and not being able to work properly but also anxiety about telling work.

im literally thinking the same… Im 6+5 today and ive taken this morning off due to backache, tiredness and sickness. Hesitating whether to tell work. I work full time in the office and it’s dreadful.

Ginger herbal tea, biscuits.

It's my third pregnancy, now 10+ weeks. In the past I waited for the 12 weeks scan, but this time I told my manager at 8 weeks after a viability scan. I only told him and asked him not to share the information, as I don't want to formally inform HR (and the rest of the business) just yet.

The worst for me has always been the first trimester, I'm absolutely exhausted with nausea and lack of sleep. I was close to see my GP for a letter and requests accomodations like WFH, and didn't want it to come as a surprise for my manager.

I didn't in the end as I feel a bit better now, but I still think it can't hurt (if you have a good relationship with your manager!).

With my first pregnancy I was signed off work for about 6 weeks at the absolute height of it (I think weeks 7-13) and took mat leave as soon as you’re able to I was so unwell . With my second I took anti sickness medications prescribed by a consultant and managed to work part time with a lot of flexibility to work around my basis mainly from home. I’d recommended the pregnancy sickness website for advice. Really hope it’s a short term thing for you and long the kind of sickness I had.

Oranges helped me. Sipping Capri sun through the day or eating orange segments.
