Movement in different pregnancies?

Was just wondering if any of you mums of more than one felt different types and amounts of movement between pregnancies?

First pregnancy with DS he was a big big mover. Felt him from about 15 weeks and externally from about 18. He used to do huge rolling movements, hit and kick me enough to make me jump etc. Remember nearly crashing the car at about 27 weeks as he kicked me so hard in his ribs.

This time round I feel very little in comparison. I feel enough movement to know baby is ok but nothing huge - can only really just feel from the outside now at 27 weeeks. Saying that I just had a big kick now - she is very good at kicking when I want her to. But mainly they are just little pokey movements and rhythmic kicks - certainly not painful.

Perhaps its the different gender - I am fooling myself that she is going to be very laid back compared to hyper DS lol!. I still feel 10 plus kicks a day or whatever you need to feel and am very busy all day so she probably kicks more but its worrying me a bit.

Anyone feel any different from pregnancy to pregnancy?

Thanks
Axxxxx

Hi

Yes DS was the same as your DS by the sounds of it - huge somersaults etc.

This time (20 weeks atm) little brushes and turns and little external kicks.

Still got time to get stronger though i suppose - thinking maybe this one is a girl (will find out next week hopefully)

Yes.

When pg with dd1 she played football and other kicking games she could all day/night long.I also had her poking limbs out so i had lumps on my bump which DH hated. With dd2 she hardly moved and kicked the whole pregnancy and she never poked limbs out at all.

That can be explained by placental positioning - if the placenta is at the front it will block a lot of the movements for you. But yes, this little bugger is definitely more into forward rolls than DD was.

It could have a lot to do with the way this baby is positioned and/or where the placenta is positioned. Do you know where the placenta is this time? If it is at the front, obviously that would be getting in the way of you feeling things externally, and could also change where you are feeling things internally.

I am pregnant with my third, and they've all seemed to move in different ways.

Must learn to type faster so I don't cross posts!

Thanks everyone. Not sure where placenta is (havent been devouring my notes like last time lol). Saying that though its not low lying like last time so perhaps that makes a difference.

I did wonder about the placenta being at the front as everything is just more muffled...must check notes. I prefer the explanation that this baby is just really chilled though lol - dont ruin my ignorant bliss ;)
