Could be food item/ old wives tale/ supplement, anything.
What do you think and fully believe helped you when trying to conceive?

Cough medicine to help improve cervical mucus
Watching out of clear egg white like cervical mucus and seizing the moment as quickly as you can when you see it.

Metformin!

Maybe not that random and actually logical - but doing ovulation strips everyday of your cycle.

We had been trying for over a year and I usually tested through the middle of the month only... my peak was usually showing up around 0.68ish.

One month I got totally confused with holidays etc and tested on day 4 to get a 0.89 leading to a peak on day 5. Turns out I was ovulating a week earlier than we thought based on standard cycles. Did the deed and got pregnant straight away! Due in 3 weeks!

First time around, no idea. Second time, lots of sex (keeps sperms fresh). Third time, moving house (possibly just new air, water, something but we'd been trying for months and conceived within a fortnight of moving).

Inositol. It's a supplement. I got it from Holland and Barrett.

I have PCOS and ovulate less than once in a blue moon. My first baby took 3 years, a whole load of weight loss and an eventual dose of Clomid to make it happen. When I was starting to try for my second, I'd read on Mumsnet about Inositol helping fellow PCOS sufferers to ovulate, so decided to give it a go. Five months later I got my BFP. That month, I'd also been quite ill, and we literally only DTD once that entire month. But then once is all that's needed!

Inositol worked for me as well. I've never been diagnosed with PCOS but my cycles were 45/50 days long until I started taking inositol (I just got it off Amazon). My cycles went down to 31/32 days within a month or two, then I conceived on our second month of actively trying.

And ovulation strips

Marylou62 · 19/09/2025 12:27

Hahahaha! Here's my story..
Had been trying 18 months to get pregnant with DC 2. I was waiting for an appointment with the consultant.
We were at a family BBQ with my family at my parents when I thought I might be ovulating (sharp pains).
So I called DH upstairs and had a very unromantic 'quickie'.
I stayed in the bathroom upstairs with my legs against the wall for ages listening to my family having fun and asking where I was... Within a week I just 'knew' I was pregnant. So legs up was how it worked for me.

Cervical mucus watching—for the clear slippery stuff—oh and making sure that you book up something for nine months ahead that would be really inconvenient with a newborn like a safari holiday… worked like a charm perhaps because of relaxing!

carparkwars · 19/09/2025 16:28

Removal of stress - my first was conceived after we exchanged in our new house. We'd been looking for over 2 years so the relief we were actually moving was great. My second was conceived after Rishi called the election. I'm in the CS and had been working on something time limited and stressful.... and it all went away the moment he called it.

PoppysAunt · 19/09/2025 16:34

Don't worry too much about stress. Women have been getting pregnant for centuries in the most stressful of situations, refugee camps, war zones, etc. my aunt was conceived in The Blitz!
If stress stopped pregnancy, the human race would have died out!
Some of the advice on here could be coincidental, but much of it is practical, like the ovulation strips and frequency of sex. Some supplements may help.
It's all a bit of a lottery. Good luck!

coffeetasteslikeshit · 19/09/2025 16:38

Loads of sex with no pressure to get pregnant, I'd enjoying it!

FunnyOrca · 19/09/2025 21:15
  1. Switching from the boot’s own brand folic acid supplement to the pregnacare supplement. I actually read this on the conception board here and got pregnant the next cycle
  2. The most difficult child I have ever had in a class went on an extended holiday, so I wasn’t fearing for the rest of the class’s safety every day
SmallandSpanish · 19/09/2025 21:37

Acupuncture and giving up the expectation it was going to happen, without giving up hope.

Wednesdayonline · 19/09/2025 21:38

A year with no success, then 1 month taking inositol and eating a low carb and sugar diet and happened immediately (PCOS).

mamagogo1 · 19/09/2025 21:42

Had no issues, key is not to actually want to get pregnant, just didn’t use contraception on the last day of my period! Seriously, have sex throughout the month not just on certain dates

buddygirlnemo · 19/09/2025 21:44

Pre-seed!

I was TTC for four months with my first daughter, used pre-seed and convinced that month.

I did the deed with my partner ONCE when my first daughter was 9 months old (had a very bad recovery and surgery a little while after so we did nothing for the whole 9 months) he used pre-seed as a lube and 2 weeks later i got a raging positive pregnancy test.

Im now a happy mum of two little girls, but im sure pre-seed did it for me.. 🫶🏻

Tronkmanton · 19/09/2025 21:48

Taking Agnus Castus (some weird herbal tiny pills) and not having a hot bath after sex! Not sure why we didn’t think of the hot bath one sooner….

Rocknrollstar · 19/09/2025 21:48

Not getting up and going to the loo after sex
My mum swore by cherry brandy and ‘doing it on the wardrobe’. My neighbour said it worked for her.

TimetoGetUpNow · 19/09/2025 21:50

Holding a newborn.

Latenightreader · 19/09/2025 21:57

I had multiple unsuccessful attempts at IUI and IVF. The final go I made a point of going to bed by 10pm each night, lights out by 11pm, preferably earlier. Previous cycles I'd tried pineapple, tiny glass of red wine, and I'd been on metformin. The one that worked I abandoned it all and got more sleep!

Dogaredabomb · 19/09/2025 21:59

Getting pissed 🤣
