Irritable uterus??

I'm nearing the end of what has been a difficult pregnancy. Ive been consultant led and have had many ups and downs along the way.
In the last couple of weeks my blood pressure has been increasing so I am having regular visits to MAU for blood pressure checks and blood tests.
The last time I went in the hooked me up to the CTG monitors and were concerned saying I had an irritable uterus and needed a consultant review.
The trace was looked at by a consultant and I was sent on my way.
Ive been having regular tightenings of the bump for weeks now and shooting pains which feel like baby is trying to make an escape.
Its really uncomfortable and sometimes stops me in my tracks.
I wasnt told to do anything specific but looking for others who have had the same scenario and what your experiences were.

Hi I had an irritable uterus. The contractions were first picked up on a ctg around 32 weeks. At 33 weeks I could feel them and I had a day at 34 weeks where I was getting contractions every 10-20 minutes all day. I went into triage and they could see them on the monitor between 1 and 3 in 10 minutes
They did an exam and saw my cervix was closed, they did a swab that showed I wasn't at risk of labour.
I was told to keep an eye on them and to come back if they were 2 in 10 and 40 seconds long. They continued on and off there would be some hours where they would be every 10 minutes other times when they would be once an hour.
I was in triage at 35 weeks for something else and they could see them 1-3 in 10 on the monitor so did another exam and swab both of which were negative for early labour. I was admitted for something else and had regular ctgs and they often showed the contractions.
I had a sweep at 36+6 and that kicked them up quite quickly. I was induced the next day and only needed the pessetry in for 4h to go into labour and baby was born 20h after the induction started. Active labour was 6 and a bit hours. Whilst the irritable uterus didn't mean early labour for me they did say it probably helped my body responds quite quickly to the induction process even though I was only just 37 weeks. I was induced as my physical health started suffering at 35 weeks and by 36 week I was bed bound which was unrelated to the irritable uterus.

From my reading they are somewhere between Braxton hicks and labour. They can get regular, more painful and don't respond to rest which differs from Braxton hicks but they don't trigger changes to the cervix /dilation etc and the swab for à labour is negative until like actual contractions

Are you well hydrated? Dehydration plays a big role in an irritable uterus. Really uncomfortable and frustrating, I hope you get some relief soon!

Yes keep hydrated and make sure you go to the loo regularly as a full bladder made it worse too

I did due to Polyhydramnios. I begged to be induced on my due date because of the Braxton hicks driving me insane

I am drinking loads if im honest so dont think I could be dehydrated. Although urinating during the day is minimal. I feel like I constantly need to go but only produce a few drips. Where as at night, once ive been laying down and baby has moved, I can empty my bladder fully. I dont have any sign of a uti either.
Its just really uncomfortable and when I stand up it literally feels like the baby is going to fall out! Its quite a sharp pain too!
I was hoping they would suggest bringing things forward as I have a section booked but they dont seem that worried.
