Triage noted high pulse

Hi,

just looking to see if anyone been in a similar position.

went to triage today with reduced baby movements - all good and fine with baby.

but they did notice I had a high pulse which they kept me in for monitoring - it didn’t go down but doctor rest assured me that with it not being accompanied by other blood clot symptoms, that she isn’t worried…

I find this a catch 22 scenario. I told the doctor I’m due for my planned section in a months time and at the moment I’m feeling super anxious which I personally think is related to my high pulse, but I want to ask if anyone else has been this nervous prior to their section date, that it’s also been the case for them or at least had a similar experience?

I have a naturally high pulse around 90 is typical for me and spent the last few weeks in and out of hospital. My pulse was routinely between 100 and 150. They did a few manual measurements which they were happier with. My blood pressure was ok and I had a marker in my bloods for clots and a family history of clots so they ran a few scans and had me on heparin for a few days whilst they ruled out clots.
I had my baby yesterday and my blood pressure has gone to low and my pulse is back in the 90s. My body was stressed even if my I wasn't.
What is it about the c section you are anxious about?

Thanks for this!

I think just being aware I have a date and knowing it’s looming never having undergone any kind of surgery, it’s just making me mega worried. I’m worried from my previous birth about having a big bleed and just the process as a whole, which I do think is the massive contributing factor to my increased pulse as I’ve never normally had this before. Then when they mentioned clots, that got me more worried! Just such a nerve wrecking time I’m finding which I wish I knew how to calm down!

I understand. I developed complications in my pregnancy at 32 weeks and went from this place where babies come when babies come, will there be room in the midwife led unit for me? Will I get a water birth? To you can't go passed X weeks, you will be induced at x or y. Weekly bloods, monitoring, and so on it just becomes a whole lot more medical and a lot less this is what humans do and have done for eternity.
The mention of clots freaked me out too as I have family history of clots in young females. They had a really low bar for starting me on the heparin and stopped as soon as the risk was cleared. They then discovered I had low platelets as well as some of the markers for HELLP so then at risk of postpartum bleeds. I had an induced vaginal birth yesterday and they made sure they regularly took bloods during the induction process to monitor my platelets, retested my blood group at the start of the induction to ensure if I did have a big bleed they had my blood group at hand. I think knowing theres a potential risk makes it easier to manage as they have the information at hand and then are on the look out for signs and have things put in place ahead of time.
Have you had a chat with anyone about the process and your previous birth to help you get your head around what you have already experienced and also what to expect with your next birth?
