High NT measurement

I had my 12 week scan today and was expecting it to be fine as I’ve already done an NIPT.

However, the NT was 3.1mm which is 99th percentile :(

Its below the 3.5mm ‘normal’ cut off, but research says lots of places use 3mm as a cut off, and now I’m worried about other genetic issues / heart defects.

Has anyone been in a similar position with a ‘high’ NT?

Im not really worried about downs / Edwards / Pataus but other problems.

I'm sure my healthboard says below 3.7mm is okay.
Have you had a blood test done too?

Which nipt was it? You can get more extensive ones like one that looks at many more chromosomal issues .But you may need to wait for anomaly scan to look at heart etc

I measured 3.8mm on NT. had cvs and everything come back clear. You can pay privately for more intrusive testing (my clinic quoted around 10k)

if you have genetic issues in the family you can try via nhs. But generally I believe that 3.1mm is low.

@princesseauxchampignons thats helpful thank you (although we definitely don’t have £10k to spend!).

Im still waiting for bloods back, but given the low NIPT I was completely expecting the scan to give a really low measurement, so this has completely thrown me into a spiral of potential issues not picked up by NIPT

Just in case anyone stumbles across this - my combined screening came back high risk, I had another scan and my NT is already down to 2.2 (just 4 days later!)

Im so happy the original measurement was just one of those things.
