Worrying about movement -19 weeks - second pregnancy

Hi, having a bit of a wobble..

Im currently 19 weeks pregnant with my second child. My first pregnancy was 6 years ago and a lot of things I don’t recall but I did have an anterior placenta and didn’t feel movements (even small) that I noticed until at least 22 weeks and possibly even longer.

I was a bit put out to learn I had another anterior placenta again as had really hoped to feel baby move sooner this time but was reassured by everyone saying that you feel your second baby sooner.

well, so far nothing concrete. Perhaps the odd shift here and there but absolutely nothing that I could say is 100% definitely baby and it’s starting to worry me.

I’ve also had 3 separate occasions of brown spotting which triage have had no concerns about and didn’t even offer to get me in to check babies heartbeat.

My 20 weeks scan is on Friday and I’m so worried about the possibility of a missed miscarriage due to the lack of movement at this stage. I had a private scan done 2 weeks ago because I was so worried and all looked fine and baby was moving loads I just don’t understand how I can’t feel something moving inside me that’s the size of a beef tomato!!

Can any other anterior placenta owners relate? Particularly second pregnancies?

thank you xx

I had a posterior and didn't feel moment with my second until 20 ish weeks I'm sure of it. And even then it wasn't consistent. My first I felt movement at 24 again with a posterior
So not feeling them at 20 with an anterior is very normal!
Also, midwives aren't concerned about lack of movement until 24-26 weeks when movements should become more consistent.

So long as all your scans are showing fine, I'm sure there is nothing to worry about

Totally normal for 19 weeks OP even with a posterior placenta! Both of mine have been posterior and both times it was after 20 weeks when I’d be like “yep, definitely baby”, my friend is currently 29 weeks with an anterior and only the last 2 weeks has had any consistent regular movements x

I really wouldn’t worry at all at this stage! I also have an anterior placenta, I have felt strong kicks randomly for the last 2-3 weeks which is early but then have periods where I don’t feel anything for a good few days so it must just massively depend on the position of the baby. I think factors such as weight can effect how early you feel too, if you had a scan 2 weeks ago and could see baby moving but couldn’t feel it I’d say not to worry at all yet! Easier said than done I know

Hey also 19 weeks with no real movements... second pregnancy too. My first is 5 now, I assumed as it was my second I would feel more and they've told me placenta is at the back so It's not that. Iv spoken to some friends who even on their second pregnancy didn't feel till 21 - 23 so I'm not panicking yet but iv also got on anomoly in about a week and half so hoping maybe something will have punched me by then lol. Good luck keep me posted
