Wax before csection?!

Err bit of an awkward one...

But what are others doing down there to prep for the csection?

I had a wax last week assuming the csection would be some time on the 15th, so about two weeks before the csection

I've now got my date for the op and it'll be 3.5weeks and I'm a bit concerned I would have had some growth since the wax.

I've read to leave a gap of 2 weeks before the csection before a wax to reduce the risk of infection in case of cuts etc.

Now I'm unsure as to whether I should go for a clean up as there'll be regrowth and a 3.5 week gap between the wax and csection...but I'd have to do it this weekend to keep a 2 week gap and I'm not sure the regrowth would be long enough

Argh. Help!

I'm 35 weeks and honestly haven't even looked down there since the first trimester 😆😆

None of the team will care, I promise you, but I appreciate it might be something that's important for you (I was the same).

If you wax regularly, than any regrowth at 3.5 weeks is likely to be fairly sparse and possibly not worth worrying about, if you don't, talk to whoever waxed/waxes you and see if they think you could do it again this weekend, someone who uses hot wax would be able to do it while shorter than strip wax.

Alternatively you could consider hair removal cream if you have someone who can apply/monitor for you, but do make sure you patch test as skin can be sensitive when pregnant.

I can relate, I had planned all my waxing to be ready for labour and then ended up being induced early, in all honesty it was the last thing on my mind at the time but I can remember meticulously planning dates ahead of time so I'm not going to tell you you're being daft! ☺️

You don’t need to be waxed. The staff see everything from full bushes to complete bald and don’t care at all. Hair is natural and if they need to remove any they will shave it anyway.

Thanks @Flederjo @Qwickwit

I used to wax all the time....and then after my first csection I was so scared to touch my scar at all I stopped waxing so a big gap of 5 years eek!!!

I literally can't be bothered now but I also don't want to be shaved by Dr's and have the pain of ingrowing hairs as well as the scar...I think that's the main worry

Ha I used hair removal cream once and burnt my skin...so never again 🙃

Yes just a bit under the belly area. It means they won’t shave you and the regrowth comes back a bit slower

Mine shaved me anyway 😂 like when having a tattoo I suppose they need to ensure it’s hairless for when stitching back up.

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 05/09/2025 12:32

They didn’t shave me! Just on with it. I would leave it. Stubble and regrowth is the last thing you want when recovering from a c-section.

Literally was just working this out for myself last night!
I'm desperately due a wax now (31weeks) and if I do this sessions wax now ish I can extend the next one so I'm about 37/8 weeks
Don't care if I have a little bit of growth, mine normally last pretty well after 2 weeks, slow growth at 3 and 4 weeks post wax, then hopefully timed it well so I'll have stopped pp bleed by the time the next one comes around
Last two births I showered and shaved that same night, but honestly couldn't have given two hoots if I had a full bush or not when the time came to push 🤷‍♀️ **have baby in your section for your case
And having worked in that area too I can also confirm the health workers also don't give damn. Absolute last thing on their minds
