Travel at 34weeks. Who provides Fit Note

Hi all,

Anyone has needed to travel and needed a Fit to Travel Note?
My husband is relocating abroad (another Western country) and the company outsourced to check if we are fit to travel is now asking for additional notes to ensure I'm fit to travel🤦🏾.
Now just wanted to check if I can ask GP to provide this or midwife?
I'm on Aspirin for previous small for gestational age baby up until 36 weeks
Many thanks

Your midwife is your first point of call but I doubt you’ll beget one these days. Nobody will be willing to put their career in the line incase something happens mid flight. I think you’re gnna struggle

Yes, we were advised that we should do a letter saying that the expected delivery date was whatever date and that there had been no complications so far in the pregnancy. The thing is our midwives wouldn't do the letters and we (GPs) don't have access to the midwifery notes so cannot say anyway. Maybe the hospital consultant that the pregnant lady is under should to them.

To be very correct you cannot say someone is fit do do anything like diving or flying as unless you have a qualification in the effects of diving or flying on the physiology of the human body then you are not qualified to say. That's the advice our defence organisations give us anyway.

I totally understand. It doesn't make sense for the GPs to provide it, especially in a situation like in my trust, where it's still paper notes. Midwives have been advised not to do it. It's interesting that International SOS are asking for this, as I would have thought that was their exact job- review the notes and make a decision. But I just realised they want others to do the job and just sign you off. I've asked for a summary - my sis is an obstetrician and says no one will write a "fit to travel for me" as no one can take on that risk. I will present the summary and take it from there.

You won’t find a midwife who will be willing to risk their career saying you can go on a plane. Maybe try a private dr?

Travel-related datasets are becoming more useful these days.
Destination popularity, season-wise demand, and distance-based planning can help travelers choose better trips.
This project could be valuable for tourism-focused applications.

Does this support custom trip durations?
Many travelers plan 2–3 day trips and look for optimized routes and nearby attractions.
It would be interesting to see how this can be adapted for short weekend travel planning.
