2nd preg - head deeply engaged, shooting pains in cervix and pressure, any chance of dislodging the little bugger?

I'm only 31 weeks ffs, he's not fully cooked yet. Big pain earlier, and sensation of dropping then shooting pains in cervix and pressure - felt like I had dropped a melon into my pelvis.

Bump has completely changed shape and is much, much lower. DH is a tad concerned.

Is there any way of getting his head off my cervix and back where it should be at the minute, because it's bloody sore.

Also can someone please reassure me this doesn't mean I'll go into labour pronto?

I'm very calm about all this because I have had enough worries with this pregnancy already and I'm just fed up of panicking!

All I know is in second and subsequent pregnancies baby can engage and disengage quite easily.
Bumping incase anyone else knows.

Thanks VS. I think I'm going to call the midwife on Monday and just mention it because I'm showing a few other interesting symptoms now.

Will be very bloody glad when this baby is safely here!

i've been experiencing similar for the past week to 10 days and no sign of action yet so it clearly doesn't necessarily mean labour's imminent.

hope the pain eases soon.

how many weeks did I say? 35?

Hi hope this hepls a little but for my first pg the little b**r was fully engaged for 7 weeks before he decided to grace us with his company!I know it is uncomfortable, just try to relax and enjoy the pregancy, easer said than done I know

Thanks Ickypeanut. DD was engaged by 28 weeks last pregnancy and was at last dragged out the catflap at one day shy of 44 weeks though.

VS, as long as I get to 34 weeks I'm not that worried.

I read that getting on all fours and leaning forward and kind of shaking can disengage a baby
don't know if this is wise / good advice though, just something I read on tinterweb

Did quite a bit of that yesterday F&Z. All it did was wake the little sod up and get me some extra kicks for my trouble. DH felt my stomach for five minutes this evening and said 'feels like he's trying to burrow his way out'

Off to see the midwife tomorrow I think.

I feel EXACTLY the same! Im 31+4 and have been having really odd 'downstairs sensations for the last 48 hours or so! Doc came out this am and said she has started to engage herself down there! Which is great as I still have 8 weeks to go! The pain at 5am was so unbearable I actually couldn't move! Plus the little bugger keeps pushing her feet up under my ribs as if she is trying to push off and shoot straight out! When I sit down it feels like I have a massive poo (sorry if TMI) lodged there and it really hurts! MW has finally got back to me and said (in a very relaxed and laid back manner) 'oh yeah, is that all? That's perfectly normal. Any more niggles give us a call'!!! Saturday night DH looked at me and said I looked like I was going to drop and bump had just gone completely southwards! It is making my SPD really bad again just as I had started to get a grip on it! Sorry to winge but I'm glad it's not just me, thought I was being a paranoid first timer!!

Bebejones - it's nice to know it's not just me! I just love the sudden big poo feeling . Together with an ache in my pelvis, back and strangely under my ribs (which yes, does very much feel like little feet are scrabbling for purchase to push out. )

Oh and it's worse when you aren't a first timer because they are slightly more tolerant when you are going through pregnancy for the first time. When you are on your second go they seem to assume that you will know everything and be reassured by being told that unless you are having four contractions an hour you aren't in labour.

Do you have a birth ball, I find that slightly relieves the pain as does getting down on all fours and demanding DH brings me cups of tea because it's 'all his sodding fault' .

Don't have one, but really want to get one! The all fours thing does seem to help a bit, but it does make my arms ache!!

Feeling rubbish again this morning and have not stopped being sick! I had 24 hour 'morning' sickness untill 20 weeks and it hasn't really subsided completely and I still get flare ups, just dont want to go back to where I was in the beginning...not fun! I feel really ungrateful that I have been given this amazing gift and I really am not enjoying being pregnant AT ALL! I think I have reached that stage where I have all the mixed feelings of wanting it to be over....now, but at the same time I know it's still too early and I really dont want her to be too early! Does that make sense? Just think I am tired and emotional! Plus I have not got a stitch of food in the house so will have to waddle up to Tescos at some point and it's chucking it down with rain and all I really want to do is curl up and sleep!!! Sorry to winge....again!
