Period pains on and off in stomach and back 37+5

Hi everyone

Felt fine (apart from usual aches and pains of being heavily pregnant) yesterday and we took our DD to our local RHS site.

Did a few mile walk around and I started getting intense period pain on my right side so DH thought it would be a good idea to get home. I had a warm bath whilst DH double checked hospital bags and sorted 2yo DD dinner etc.

I felt “off” all evening but sat on my pregnancy ball and got an early night as the pain subsided after bath (I was getting stabbing pains in my cervix for about an hour before finally falling asleep).

This morning I’ve got quite intense cramping which feels like period pain (I’ve got endometriosis so can be really quite painful) in my lower stomach and lower back. There is no patten to them but I’m just aware of it constantly iyswim and feel quite nauseous.

I haven’t lost any waters or mucus plug.

I was induced with DD so never went into labour by myself so this is new to me.

I feel exactly like I do when I’ve got a bad period, crampy, a bit grumpy, very tired. Not sure if I need to be checked out?

I saw midwife on Saturday as had an iron infusion and my urine was checked and BP and they were all clear.

Any advice would be great, thank you!

I remember reading up tons and questioning if I was in labour when I had these period pains (also used to very painful periods so wasn't just your run of the mill little aches) with my first.
They weren't consistent but where definitely there throughout the day. Turns out I was in labour and went from 4-10 in next to no time, but there are other who will go days with this pre labour (before its established)
I will say, mine never got to any sort of rhythm or consistent in how long they lasted, even after waters breaking naturally, to the point midwives didn't even think I was in established labour until I was crowning.
I would suggest walking and trying to encourage it along if you feel comfortable doing so, and once you're certain they are picking up a bit more then call in and have them advise you what to do next. Although if you are ensure absolutely go get checked if it makes you feel more secure in what's going on!
That being said I've also read many stories of this subsiding no matter what you try.
All heading in the right direction for a spontaneous labour though!
Good luck @elm26!

That's how I felt from 9am in the morning all day until finally conceding that I was probably in labour and calling MWs at 3am. All evening I was sat googling "how will I know if I am I in labour?" while munching on biscuits sat on the sofa 😂

Turns out I was in labour. I was 8cm when I arrived on the antenatal ward. My waters never went - the MW manually popped it for me when I hit 10cm dilation 😳

Whatever stage you're at - good luck. You're almost there 💪

With my second I had these sort of very painful braxton hicks type pains for a couple of weeks before a very speedy labour...was quite a surprise after my 3 day first labour.

I think stabbing cervix pains is a pretty good sign something is happening. With any luck OP you're going gently into labour and will hopefully be dilating nicely! For both of my births I was 6cm before I really knew it was labour, but had the sporadic period pain and stabbing cervix pains prior to that. Hope so - good luck!

Thanks everyone, I saw consultant today and have an induction booked next week at 39 weeks for a variety of reasons. Baby is fully engaged and head pushing on my cervix so she said he may be here before then!

I have the same thing at the moment OP.
I'm 37w today. Went for a relatively (for me!) long walk yesterday and was in agony at times, cramps coming and going and not BH. She's getting v low now apparently and on Monday I went to triage with cramping back pain.

No mucus plug or waters.

Who knows!

At least you know yours will be here next week regardless, I'm dreading another potential 4 weeks of this!
