As the title says really.
What post birth maternity pads or pants have you used and would recommend?
Bonus points if you can add a link?

With baby 1 I used some from Wilko which were quite thick but pretty comfy and worked well.
Obviously Wilko dont really exist anymore so loooking for an alternative.
I bought some lilets but they just feel really thin through the packet which is a worry.

I used just Sainsbury's own brand as that was the nearest supermarket. Worked perfectly fine.

amberonyx · 25/08/2025 22:23

Oh sorry, just saw you tried them. I haven't used any others apart from the ultra thick ones you get at hospital, they didn't do it for me. You could try a Lilets with a normal pad over the top like Always?

YouBoggleMyMind · 25/08/2025 22:27

I just used Tescos or boots or Superdrug ones

LostMySocks · 25/08/2025 22:27

I used the Boots ones. Felt nice and thick.

Dinosaursdontgrowontrees · 25/08/2025 22:27

The boots ones are lovely and soft

I used tesco to start as they're nice and thick then moved on to boots as bleeding became lighter.

I was meant to have a planned C-section so bought the disposable fridamom C-section pants. Ended up having a VBAC but wore them anyway. They're awful to look at and you still need to use a pad with them but they're lovely and thick and it was helpful not having to worry about ruining pants or doing washing in the early days. I saw them recommended here and they were a great purchase - I was in hospital for a week so I'd just bin them after one wear rather than collect worn underwear in my bag.

I used Tena pants with the free pads from the Baby Box (a Scottish thing) on top. Would change the pads when needed, and then, when the pants began to get ropy, use them alone (so maybe use three pads and then just the pants before starting with fresh of both).

When they were done I used normal maternity pads with wings in normal pants.

I got the lillets ones and alsodisposable knickers (think Mine were just superdrug ones for incontinence rather than maternity specific) for the first few days. Honestly the knickers were miles better. I found the pads itchy on stitches and moved about as the wings didn't line up to really wrap round. Next time I'd do disposable knickers only.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions!
Ive never seen any in my local supermarket so will have another look!

The lilets ones were fab for me! Super comfy and they also do a lighter one for when the bleeding calms down a bit. Also the lilets breast pads were lovely too, the more expensive ones made me itch x

100% these!

Lil-Lets Maxi Maternity Pads with Wings - 10 pack - Boots https://share.google/KDjO9bIUnFvAMBXtY

Hands down these. Used them after all my children. For the first couple of weeks with the heavy bleeding these are the absolute best. So comfy, the biggest coverage so no leaks, and the most absorbent. I tried quite a few different brands after DC1 and these were by far the best so stuck with these after my other babies. Once the bleeding calms down they do a thinner, less absorbent version but they're still super soft on stitches so move to them after.

All the best!

Another vote for the Tena incontinence pants - so much easier than faffing around with a pad!

andanotherproblem · 26/08/2025 20:37

Honestly I wore pull up nappies, got them in Superdrug own brand, think supermarkets sell them and then put a maternity pad (boots own) inside. I felt so comfortable that I wouldn’t leak, bleeding is heavy I deffo recommend

MidnightPatrol · 26/08/2025 20:39

Another vote for the boots ones.

I found anything with plastic or wings very uncomfortable / agitating!

Blue2020 · 26/08/2025 22:02

Frida postpartum pads. They worked very well after my csection. I think with my son I used boots thick pads and they also worked well.

PerspicaciaTick · 26/08/2025 22:13

Cheap and plumpy, I used Tesco own brand... But but a bottle of witch hazel to sprinkle on the pad, very cooling and soothing.

elm26 · 26/08/2025 23:09

Always Discreet I loved after DD, super comfy. Also, I ordered some post partum pads from Amazon when you clicked them in the middle and it lets out a cooling gel. I’ve ordered some for this one too as I’m due in a couple of weeks, the cold was heaven!

MaltWispa · 27/08/2025 06:09

Tesco's own brand were great along with the Spritz for Bits! Good luck :)
