What shall i do with all my old bras?

Seriously, do i chuck 'em? or keep 'em in case they ever fit again?

I've only gone up 1 or almost 2 cup sizes so far (6mths pg) but i now have a whole drawer full of bras that i can't wear anymore and it's getting on my nerves. And then i'll hopefully be spending six months a year in nursing bras so is it really worth keeping the old ones?

Also - what to do with the matching thongs? Will i ever want to wear a thong again? I used to love 'em but as soon as i got pg they became obscene instruments of torture.

Ladies - place your votes please.

i had this dilemma. i packed mine up and put them in the loft. looking at them was making me want to wear them so i just packed them away but ive kept them as an incentive to try to lose weight later. if i dont manage it then i'll chuck them..

Tinkerisdead · 30/05/2008 11:49

inclusing the thongs as they were cutting into me and now im nice and comfy in my shorti knickers and maternity bra... my dh says its horrific underwear but hmmmm i feel i comfy!

MrsTittleMouse · 30/05/2008 11:56

Mine are still in a drawer taunting me. I became pregnant again so soon after breastfeeding that I never had a chance to get back into them. I have hopes that after I've finished breastfeeding this one (am PG right now) that things will settle back, although I know that it can take a year for things to readjust. Which is a bit daft really, thinking about it. That means that I'm hoping to wear them in 2.5 years time! Does the elastic last that long?
I suppose you can just put me down as optimistic.

My beautiful, sexy underwear is packed up in the loft, I reminisce every now and again when I reach for the mahoosive Russian shotputter bras that are now a familiar sight in my drawer. I WILL be a sexy mama again and my boobs will thank me for keeping my 'normal' underwear. Don't chuck em, pregnancy and breast feeding doesn't last forever!

Anna8888 · 30/05/2008 14:42

Keep them.

I was back in my pre-pregnancy underwear pretty soon (and God was I pleased to be wearing La Perla again ).

MillGuff · 30/05/2008 14:54

Keep them for sure. I've never really got back into thongs though - I still find myself seeking out one of the 7-pack of black M&S briefs that I bought for post-birth instead of the lacy tinies. How sad am I?

LOL at the fundraising !

Its a difficult one .... don't mean to be the bearer of bad news but they may not fit you again. You might find you are smaller than before as I was

Keep them tho just in case .. you can always go on a spending spree if not

LenniEd · 30/05/2008 16:42

I kept mine until about a year after DD arrived. Then gave up any hope that I would go back down 2 cup sizes after I had lost all the weight, but still no change on the bust front. Used to have a lovely collection of lacy numbers... gave them to a charity after seeing an advert for bras! Someone is wondering round in my very expensive scaffolding now I expect. Meanwhile I am in a tesco plain white 36DD bra and a pair of very boring pants. Really need to prioritise improving my undies collection .

Izzywhizzy · 30/05/2008 16:44

Once I stopped breastfeeding, my boobs shrank back to their pre-pregnancy size.

I'd keep them just in case if I were you.

flack · 30/05/2008 16:44

Oxfam happily takes them, sold in dev. world shops.

LadyOfTheFlowers · 30/05/2008 16:45

What size are they? I could buy them off you if you like? Maternity bras yes?

JessJess3908 · 30/05/2008 16:56

Cat - LOL at mental image of all my bra's tied together to provide lift up to air ambulance!

So there is a small chance that my boobs and bum might one day go back to 'normal'? That's good to know i really can't imagine my ass ever being the same again.

Sorry, I missed the fundamentally important bit there. They are your pre pregnancy bras you are talking about.

I was able to wear mine again after a while.

I personally have plain cotton pants now as any with frilly waistbands or lace front panels are itchy on my sexy stretchmarks.

plummed · 30/05/2008 19:20

I am still cramming my boobs into my pre-pregnancy bras when going out. Gives you a lovely wonderbra-esque cleavage, fantastic! I stick with my maternity ones at home and in bed.

Dread to think what I will do after giving birth and breastfeeding... My DP already moaning that I have bought two maternity/ nursing bras. What will he do when the whole bra wardrobe has to be restocked?!

Upwind · 30/05/2008 20:29

hoping more people say she might fit back into lovely bras

slinkiemalinki · 31/05/2008 10:32

Keep the good ones and give the old to charity!

Flamesparrow · 31/05/2008 10:55

Keep them for at least as long after breastfeeding as you breastfeed for (does that make sense? so if you feed for 9 months, don't chuck until another 9 months has passed) - it seems to take equal time of feeding to get back to your "normal" shape, then you can see if they still fit and if you need to get rid etc.

spicemonster · 31/05/2008 11:14

My DS is now 14 months and I fit into all my old bras again

isaidno · 31/05/2008 11:31

you can send them here if you do decide to get rid of them. They are given to homeless women and women in poor countries.

You could shrink your collection down if you have that many but keep one or two in each size.
Spare clothes can always go to Women's Aid - if you imagine turning up at a refuge with nothing the clothes you are wearing and having to start a new life... Ditto shoes and kids' clothes too.
