Private scans in Hertfordshire???

Good morning! I was hoping soemone here could have the answer for me!

I was told at my 20wk scan i have a low placenta, and again at my 3d scan at 26wks weeks they confirmed it was still low....

However i was hoping to go abroad before the end of this month and am trying one last time to get scanned at 30wks to check if its moved by then (i had exactly this with my son and it had moved by 29wks-diagnosed by an NHS scan)

The problem is the NHS now say this is a waste of time/money so refuse to do it until 36wks. So i am trying finding a place to scan me thats not costing £100+ as many of the companies are offering femur length, estimating babies weight etc and all i really wanna know is if the placenta has moved or not! (To grab a last week in the sun as we can only travel in June each year due to my partners work)

So far i have tried
Herts MRI £108
Baby premier £95

I can afford around £50-£60 but thats the max!

Any advice except going on holiday in this country! (Which isnt the end of the world but fancied a last week in sun just the three of us!)

Thank you! xxx

Have you tried Pine Hill? Don't know how much they charge, but they do do scans. Why do you want to know before your 36 week one?

I don't understand why a low placenta (I have one too) would stop you going on holiday?

All sorted-found a place in watford and all booked....

Having a low placenta and going abroad is a big risk as if you bleed due to the placenta being low you could end up in hospital until you deliver which with a 2yr old i am not chancing!

Not to mention the fact not many insurance companies would cover going abroad knowing i have a low placenta, it wouldn't be covered on insurance let alone getting a permission letter from the doctor!

I had this with my first child too and it was advised i did not go abroad as its too risky and dangerous...same advice this time hence why i am booked in for 30wks and hope its moved up....

Hi KKey21. Not sure if you remeber me. Congrats on your 2nd pregnancy. Hope all goes well. DS is now 3.5 and at nursery and dd is now 6.5 and almost finished yr1. We have moved out of London and I've left my job in Herts. Are you still in the child care business? How is ds doing?

CantSleepWontSleep · 30/05/2008 22:21

We're going abroad in 2 weeks with my low placenta! Only to France though, so easy enough to get back if we had to.

ComeOVeneer-Hi! Yes of course i remember you! Thank you so much! Wow at how time flies, my ds will be 3 in August! Congratulations on your move, sound svery exciting! Yes i am childminding, was doing 3 full days a week with two others under 2 so it was tough but certinly went fast! One has just moved away so i only mind one now which is a perfect wind down for maternity leave. Ds is great thank you-much older than his years and learning so fast! Lovely to hear from you! x

Cantsleep-how far preg are you? Make sure you have the correct level of insurance... We did go abroad with this in my first pregnancy but i had confirmation it had moved as without that i couldn't get insured and wouldnt have been covered if something had happened abroad. This time i don't want to risk staying abroad to deliver.....
France sounds lovely-hopefully i'll be off soon too! x
