Did daily aspirin help prevent pre-eclampsia after having it in a previous pregnancy?

I had pre-eclampsia with my first pregnancy discovered at 38 weeks. I felt fine in myself and didn’t notice anything but my bp was high and some protein was found in my urine. My bp remained high for a few weeks after giving birth but I was closely monitored by midwives at home and was on nifedipine (I think) for a few weeks. All fine and no known long term issues.

I’m now pregnant again with my second and have been taking 150mg aspirin every evening since I was 12 weeks pregnant.

So I’m curious. Did anyone have pre-eclampsia in one pregnancy, take daily aspirin and not have pre-eclampsia in subsequent pregnancies or did you still get it again after taking aspirin? I’m still going to continue taking the aspirin as I would like to try to prevent pre-eclampsia if possible.

I had baby aspirin in my second pregnancy after developing preeclampsia at 36 weeks in my first. I didn’t get it in my second.

I've developed pre-eclampsia in this pregnancy, whilst taking aspirin, having not had it in my first pregnancy (and not taken aspirin!). So not sure it is an exact science... but the evidence is there x

I had extremely bad preeclampsia in my 2nd pregnancy I had to deliver at 34 weeks, my daughter went to nicu and I went to intensive care. I didn’t have it with my first, and I didn't have it with my 3rd and I took aspirin daily with only my 3rd. Also had extra appointments in case it started again to try and catch it early. I did have symptoms with my 2nd only for them to be dismissed.

I was high risk for pre-eclampsia with my first, so took aspirin (75mg) from 12 weeks. Pre-eclampsia was diagnosed at 36 weeks, though I suspect I actually had it from 34 weeks.

After having pre-eclampsia in my first pregnancy I knew I'd be high risk again, so started taking aspirin (150mg) from BFP. I developed pre-eclampsia at 34 weeks, except a major SNAFU on the part of the hospital meant nothing was done about it until 36 weeks.

With my first, my BP has been steadily climbing the entire pregnancy until the 36 week appointment where it finally measured as high, and protein was found in my urine for the first time. The reason why I suspect it was actually 34 weeks with my first is because while I had to miss that appointment, working at a hospital and all, I had my BP checked anyway. Two out of the three readings came back high. The third being borderline. I was too much of a chicken to test my urine and I stupidly hand waved it all away as being the fault of the machine.

Second time around my BP was stable for the entire pregnancy until the 34 week appointment had a ridiculous BP of something like 200/100. The second reading was still high, but not as ridiculously so. There was +++ protein and my ALT levels were through the roof. Enough so that I was referred for a liver ultrasound (just not why....).

I will say that if it hadn't been for the high BP and proteinuria, and elevated liver enzymes I wouldn't have had a clue I had pre-eclampsia. Both times it was a very mild case. So while the aspirin didn't stop the pre-eclampsia it hopefully lessened the impact on myself and my babies.
