every other ones I have used make me look like I have a shelf instead of a bust and just shovels them both in together so they're all squished

Have you tried Bravissimo?

MrsBadger · 29/05/2008 15:07

Bravissimo

you may need a different size to what you think you are (iyswim)

nobodysfool · 29/05/2008 15:07

Will be looking with interest as i'm looking and having problems as the back sizes are all too big for the cup size i need.
www.debenhams.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/category_10001_10001_59851_-1
these are the nicest ones i have found without costing the earth
What size are you?

dizzydixies · 29/05/2008 15:10

there isn't a bravissimo near to me unfortunately, will probably end up having to go into M&S to be measured and then try ordering some online

nobodysfool am not sure as am wearing the soft bras from last time I was pregnant, noticed today though that I have 4 boobs so its obviously wrong

4 boobs is never a good look but maybe every mans dream woman!
Looks like your going to have yourself measured properly.
Good luck.

MrsBadger · 29/05/2008 15:14

nooo do not go to M&S

have you a John Lewis? a Debenhams?

The trouble with M&S is they only sell M&S bras - dept stores and independent lingerie shop sell a variety of brands and are more likely to find something that fits.

dizzydixies · 29/05/2008 15:15

thanks! its not something I relish as last time I was measured in M&S I wasn't comfy in any of the bras I then bought in that size and when you need a bra similar to the size of a hammock they're not cheap either

Is there an NCT bra fitter near you?

www.nctsales.co.uk/nctbra_info.asp?cat=97&scat=97&parent=250&type=1 says you can call 0845 8 100 100 to find your nearest one - definitely a better option than M&S anyway!

dizzydixies · 29/05/2008 15:19

fab thanks kasha will give them a call

I agree about M&S - they are terrible if you have large boobs! I tried a couple on and my back size is 32 but their maternity bras started at 34 only. They were trying to get me to try some one that were way too big around the back just because they don't do cups bigger than a G (well, FF but they call it G) and I'm now a GG!

Do try phoning Bravissimo anyway because even if you can't go there to be fitted they can give you advice over the phone. You could buy by mail order/interent try them on and talk to Bravissimo about the fit and then return or swap if necessary. Most of their operators have tried all the styles so they do know what they are talking about!

Otherwise, I would suggest John Lewis/Debenhams and the NCT as Kasha suggested! Good luck...

dizzydixies · 29/05/2008 16:06

we only have an M&S and a debenhams near to me, we used to have a house of frasers who were fab but it closed down

I wasn't too impressed with Mothercare either as they just kept trying to get me to buy their bras even though they didn't have the right size last time

never worry ladies, will get someone to check out the norks before baby comes if it kills me

hello - elle macpherson maternity/nursing bras are great. there's a sheer lycra-ish one that's really comfy and reasonably nice looking. there are gorgeous lacy ones that are a little less comfortable, but fit pretty well. i've seen them at mothercare and selfridges [!]

dizzydixies · 29/05/2008 17:06

selfridges, that would be lovely but am now beginning to think I live beyond all civilised life

second vote for elle macpherson - I am still wearing mine even though I have stopped bfing. Very comfy and pretty good shape. Two have lasted me a year of constant wearing - not bad.

jingleyjen · 29/05/2008 19:56

elle didn't go up tot he size I needed.. bravissimo and john lewis.. were good for me (32G/H)

dizzydixies · 29/05/2008 19:56

will have a look on figleaves then, maybe they'll have some and they're delivery etc is normally very good

OP posts:
sophierosie · 29/05/2008 19:58

I'd recommend the NCT ones - I had this one and found it felt really supportive - was a 32G also.

dizzydixies · 29/05/2008 20:08

thanks sophie I just read their advice page re bras and apparently I should be waiting till 36wks before getting measured for nursing bras so will just have to have 4 boobs till then!!

Royce and Bravado both have websites and both helpful over phone, and have good returns policy, so you can send them back to get the right fit if needs be. My norks went from 32d to 34J in pregnancy. Once you deliver your ribs will shrink in and norks will get bigger. They suggested that you try on with the back on the last hooks so you can adjust it inwards as your ribs shink, and make sure you can slip your hand inside the cup to allow for norks filling with milk and breast pads etc.

winestein · 29/05/2008 23:05

Dizzy - wait for longer than 36 weeks if you can. I would say 38 if you can't hold out any longer. I went to John Lewis for mine - they were fantastic. The only bra in my size (32 L) was a Royce and they were very, very comfortable.

slinkiemalinki · 29/05/2008 23:09

I was a 32G last time - John Lewis (well Peter Jones) recommended an Emma Jane - I was a 32H when the milk first arrived and wore a Royce which was a bit pointy. I was very happy with the E.J. The Peter Jones lady told me that it was a much better bet than Elle McP and the like for a big cup size. I stuck with them throughout and daresay I will again.

MrsMopple · 29/05/2008 23:13

Hi dizzy. I'm an underwired bra girl (32E pre preg, 34G during, 32F post 12 months bf). Anita do an underwired drop cup bra, which I thought was fab. I went through my pregnancy wearing underwires (I got frequently measured at Debenhams and went for their £10 ish underwired t-shirt bras).
Once ds had arrived and I had been fitted, I bought bras off the internet as they were cheaper.

slinkiemalinki · 29/05/2008 23:28

Ooh good tip MrsM - have been wearing underwires this time round too so may check that one out too!

dizzydixies · 30/05/2008 11:05

I have been stuffing the ladies into some underwired bras that still seem to fit - my boobs never went down after having dd1 and feeding - am always very of these people who loose weight during bf and their boobs shrink again - mine never have

will wait as long as possible even if it means having 4 boobs for the next few weeks, I can improve it if I shoogle them about a bit

thank you all - some great suggestions
