EPU scan tomorrow 6+3 nervous wreck

I previously had a loss at 6 weeks so a nervous wreck.

Ive had some mild nausea, retching, and mild pulling sensations in the tummy for the last few weeks, also hot flush and exhaustion. Yesterday saw a tiny pink spot mixed with discharge when going to the loo, didn’t think anything of it. Later I had a few flecks of red mixed with normal discharge when I went to the loo. I panicked and rang the midwife, who wasn’t concerned but could sense how anxious I was so offered to book me a reassurance scan at the EPU, which is tomorrow morning.

I haven’t been able to sleep anyway due to constantly needing the loo but my thoughts have been racing, worried it will be like last time. Has anyone been referred before for early reassurance scan and all been ok? I haven’t had any severe pains or any signs of blood at all since.

Ive had early scans in both my pregnancies with the EPU.
Pregnancy 1 i was 6 weeks and GP referred me because i had alot of pain but no bleeding. We had struggled to conceive for years so they wanted to put my mind at rest. All was fine.
Same happened in pregnancy 2 but also had a fleck of blood mixed in with discharge. Again all was fine.

Always found the EPU staff to be wonderful and helpful.
Fingers crossed for you.

Thank you @JungleRun21. I’m keeping everything crossed for tomorrow, even took another test today and lines are still strong and dark which is positive.

Were you able to see the heartbeat flicker when you went for your 6 week scans?

I presume it will be a TV scan rather than abdominal? Bear in mind that at this early stage, you may not be able to see a heartbeat but that doesn't mean there isn't one!

Yes we were able to see the heartbeat at 6 weeks but it isnt always visible so dont feel disheartened if they cant find it. They would probably book you a rescan 2 weeks later.

I've had early scans in all my pregnancies - first one I had at 7 weeks I saw a heart beat (private TV scan).
Second pregnancy I had a private scan but showed a slow heartbeat (7weeks) so got referred to EPAU. Sadly wasn't good news 2 weeks later.
For the remaining 3 pregnancies I got early scans through EPAU every time. Currently 19 weeks with my 5th pregnancy.

You're right on that borderline where there may or may not be a heartbeat. If there isn't, try not to panic. It's still early. Fingers crossed for you.

I had the scan. Very happy that baby is measuring correctly, 6 weeks possibly 6+5 according to the doctor which lines up with my dates, got to see the heartbeat flicker and doctor said it was strong 😊

They explained the spotting was due to a tiny tear from where baby had ‘floated down’ in my womb but had no concerns. They said the scan also showed a sub chorionic haematoma which may be reabsorbed or which may cause bleeding, and to keep an eye on it, next scan will be 12 weeks.

I’ve had a previous loss so any mention of potential future bleeding is obviously a concern. I’m beyond happy baby is ok but has anyone been diagnosed with a haematoma before and things been ok?

I'm glad it went well. Whilst worrying, haematomas are pretty common and usually won't cause any problems x

I had a SCH visible on my 8 week scan, was so worried and it had got bigger by 10 weeks but was completely gone by 12 weeks 😊 I think they're very common in early pregnancy and a lot of people don't ever realise because they disappear before the 12 week scan!
