Has anyone ever used a Clearblue test and come up positive and your wasnt pregnant?

I have just tested 2 - 3 days early and its come up as a clear positive. Could this be wrong? I really want a yes but do not want to get my hopes up.

Nope - congratulations.

Alexa808 · 29/05/2008 14:22

No, they are very accurate.

Congrats!!

I did have a false positive from a Clearblue test. It's uncommon but it does happen.

You know what I'm going to say next don't you?

jackieglyn · 29/05/2008 14:27

Shall I do another one when I get home then?

Why can it come up as a false positive?

Now im worried

I've no idea why false positives happen...they are really uncommon though, so the chances are good that you are indeed up the squack. I would just test again to be sure

Don't think it could be a false positive. I think a chemical pregnancy is more likely when a test is positive but AF turns up soon after.

jackieglyn · 29/05/2008 14:31

I dont suppose you could get a false positive twice then?

Sorry - to clarify, I'm not saying you will have a chemical pregnancy!

jackieglyn · 29/05/2008 14:35

What is a chemical pregnancy?

It's when the egg is fertilised but it doesn't implant, or the implantation doesn't "stick". HCG is generated and this is picked up by the test, but then the pregnancy is shed in the next period.

Most people don't know they've had one, but they're more common these days as tests are more sophisticated and people test early.

I had one once that was picked up by a Dr's test.

I have always had early clear positives with Clearblue - the first is sleeping next door and the second has his foot under my ribs right now!
Congratulations.

chocbiscuits · 29/05/2008 20:46

As I understand it they are 99% accurate!

madmouse · 29/05/2008 20:54

The rule is that false positives are rare and false negatives are common, so you are definitely more likely to be pregnant. Do another one. Boots own brand doe snot break the bank.
